Beautiful Plants and Flowers From My Garden

Updated on May 25, 2015

Plants and Flowers From My Garden

For most of my life I lived in London. The area where I lived was getting more and more crowded and beginning to feel alien to me. I was feeling so suffocated. Then 3 years ago I moved to the beautiful countryside of Suffolk. I now have a lovely garden with many beautiful plants and flowers, birds and the occasional squirrel and hedgehog.

Years ago before the area where I live was build on, it was sand dunes and a haven for wild birds. Today there are still many bird around and my garden is always full of bird song.

Every day I feel blessed to have such a beautiful garden, so peaceful and tranquil. Me and my partner love photography and I want to share some of the lovely photos we have taken. Some times I find it hard to believe I live here - just how lucky can I be?

Some of the photos were taken by myself and some by my partner Richard. If you would like to see some more of his photos you can visit his website at

Daisies From My Garden

I love this photo and the way you can see the water drops on the daisies.

St John's Wort In My Garden

St John's Wort
St John's Wort

St John's Wort are one of my favourite plants. Such a lovely vibrant yellow with waxy flowers. They don't last very long, but are very beautiful while they are flowering.

St John's Wort

St John's Wort is well known as an herbal treatment for depression. But I think just looking at this plant is enough to lift depression and cheer you up!

Fuchias In My Garden

Fuchsias are one of my favourite flowers, so many different varieties to choose from.

Magic Tomato - The First Tomato Grown In Our Garden

When I picked our first home grown tomato I could feel it vibrate in my hand. It was a poignant moment because my partner was away from home on a training course at the time. It was the first time we had been apart since we had been living together . I wanted to wait for him to get back to pick our first tomato but he said I must pick it on a particular day. He also said I must eat it too. After I picked it I held it in my hand and felt it vibrate.

I took a photo of me eating the tomato with my camera phone and sent the photo to my partner just for a laugh. He said his phone went off in the middle of a lecture - whoops! lol.

Crab Apple Blossom - Crab Apple Tree In My Garden

The Crab Apple Tree in my garden just beginning to flower.

The blossom from our crab apple tree looked so beautiful. I am grateful for the photos we took because a few days later they were gone, all scattered in the wind.

Pretty Pink Iris Flowers

I have lots of these pretty pinks Iris flowers in my garden and also some lovely mauve ones too.

I like to try to take photos from a different angle and close up. Not always successful but I am pleased with this one.

Roses In My Garden

More Roses

This rose bush looked particularly lovely this year so I couldn't resist adding another rose photo.

Feeding the Ducks

Ok this is not my garden! Just wanted to make sure you were paying attention! This is me feeding the ducks at our local park.

White Daisies From My Garden

My partner loves taking photos of insects and will spend hours trying to get that "perfect" picture. I think that bees must be one of his his favourite insects!

Yellow Flowers in My Garden

I don't know the name of these yellow flowers but they looked so lovely.

Cactus in My Garden

This cactus grows out of the one of the low walls in my garden and always looks very pretty and unusual.

Red Bottlebrush Plant - Callistemon rigidus

I have now found out the name of this strange red flower. It is called a Bottlebrush Plant (Callistemon rigidus) and it comes from Australia

Such beautiful flowers. So fleetingly lovely one day - faded away a couple of days later.

Sunflowers in My Garden

Sunflower in my Garden
Sunflower in my Garden

This year we decided to grow some sunflowers in the garden. We didn't have much room so we planted them in a big flower pot. They were not as big as we would have liked but still looked lovely. Next year we will make some room in the garden and hopefully they will grow much bigger.

Primroses in My Garden

Clematis in My Garden

Beautiful Clematis

Last year we bought a beautiful mauve Clematis for our garden. I have never been lucky with Clematis plants but my partner has the green fingers and this year thanks to his nursing and watering, it has done really well and the flowers are so big and lovely.

Thick Snow In My Garden

This December we had some very thick snow where I live and all my beautiful plants and flowers were covered with snow. It's the first time we have had heavy snow since I have lived here. It looked lovely and picturesque but was very hazardous to walk in when it got icy and slippery.

I love sunflowers. Unfortunately I have to fight with the squirrels and birds every year in order to get them to come up.

@myshelle01: Thank you for visiting, I'm pleased you liked the photos. Sadly the Bottlebrush is not doing too well this year thanks to our British weather but hopefully they will pick up. My partner Richard took most of the photos and is a bit obsessed with bees lol.

Absolutely loved your photographs, especially the ones with Bees. I have never been able to get a good micro of a Bee on my flowers. Bottlebrushes are stunning here in Oz,they attract a huge variety of bird life.Thank you for sharing.
