Footprints in the Sand by Thomas Kinkade

Updated on August 18, 2014

Inspiration for the heart.

For many years I have given this poem "Footprints in the Sand" to people who have been in need of comfort during difficult times. It seemed to convey a message that I could not describe, yet have felt all too often.

Once my sister-in-law had shared with me how she didn't realize until much later, that when she was experiencing the most challenging periods in her life, that God Himself was always there. He was walking by her when she felt alone, and yes, carrying her when she could not stand.

Footprints in the Sand is a description of what life brings, and it inspires the heart. Through prayer we need to remember that God is always there and will help us get through those trying situations. Let this message speak to you.

As you draw on this, my hope is that you will share the message leaving your own footprints giving hope to those who need inspiring. (This photo and poem available at Amazon) .

It has been said that Mr. Kinkade got his inspiration for this print from a poem that was hanging in his grandmother's kitchen. It is a portrait of Pismo Beach located in California. Watch and listen as Thomas himself describes his version of what footprints in the sand means to him.

      What a beautiful Lens, I've enjoyed it, thank you for sharing this with us.

      Praise Him! praise Him!

      The Footprints poem reminds me of this lovely hymn which says...

      "In His arms He carries them (His sheep) all day long"

      I've truly experienced all my lifelong, praise His dear Name!

      Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!

      Sing, ye saints! His wonderful love proclaim!

      Hail Him! hail Him! mightiest angels in glory;

      Strength and honor give to His holy name!

      Like a shepherd, Jesus will feed His people,

      In His arms He carries them all day long;

      O ye saints that live in the light of His presence,

      Praise Him! praise Him! ever in joyful song!
