   What methods do you use to rid your house of spiders?
   
   At the beginning of summer my husband and I noticed a huge influx of spiders. Here in Kansas we had to be worried about the brown recluse and on more than one occasion I knowingly killed one. I'm going to be having a baby in November and I want to try and get rid of as many of the pesky creatures as possible. Anyone have any home remedies for our arachnid friends?

   I use Raid Ant and Roach spray.  It is the only product that I have found that keeps them away.

   A shoe and cans of bug spray placed at strategic locations around the house seems to work for me. If I see a spider in my house, I tend to want to it dead. I can't stand the damn things, so I'm not going to waste time trying to catch it and get it outside.

   We have an exterminator that comes to our house quarterly.  Since we have a contract with the company, any time we have we see any insects we can call and they will come out and promptly take care of the problem.

   I just sort of kill them as they come along.  If my wife and children weren't terrified of them I'd leave them be, but we don't have too many really bad species up here in NH.  I know that there are certain species that eat other spiders, so you may want to look that up as well.

   I call the number on the fridge. =P Lol. I hate the little creepy crawlies and we get our house sprayed once a month. Ugh nasty little things.

   They (I'm not sure who) make these little sticky pads, about the size of a notepad, that work really well.  You put them in the basement and hidden away in the corners of rooms.  When the spiders step on them, they can't get off and they die.  The downside: after a couple of months, when you go to replace the pad, you get to see how many spiders were in your home in the first place.

   I have been in search of eugenol oil insecticide (sp) that Billy the Exterminator uses on TV... it's all natural (made from cloves)and only harmful to insects -- not animals.  I've seen and killed many brown recluses (just two yesterday on my garage door!), black and brown widows (google it, they're real!), and tons of sac spiders.  I don't want to use dangerous/high toxic insecticides.... but at this point may just go by the spider/scorpion poison produced by Raid.  Especially after cleaning out my garage two days ago... *shudder*
