We live in a small town nowadays, and love it! However, I've lived the city life most of my life other than these past eight years. We wound up leaving city life due to the crime increasing in our beloved and once peaceful neighborhood where my children grew up in the city. It was really just wannabe young gangsters-type, but who moved in right next door. There was no peace ever! It was a shame because the neighborhood was ruined just for that one family moving in and then others came, of course.
Although I do have an hour commute into the city each day of the week for my job, which is located downtown and close to the Interstate, I can hop on there and head home to my peaceful, rolling green pastures setting home, and enjoy the serenity. I am all for the serenity.
So, if I miss city life, we can be there in about 50 minutes, if need be. Well, actually, we are located right between two large cities, so we can head North or South. I head South for work.
There's no place like home ...when it's peaceful!
I would prefer the suburbs. It's nice to be in between The city and rural life. But I also get the chance to be close by both so it works out well. The suburbs offer plenty to do put there are peaceful places I can go.
In my lifetime I have lived in such a strange array of places; the middle of nowhere smack dab in the middle of a swamp in Florida, then relocating to a larger city in Central Florida. From there into the woods of Georgia, many miles away from any store or neighbor for that matter. Thankfully, the last move was to Tennessee, where I find joy hidden in between the secluded mountains in a valley of the Appalachian.
Given all of these places, I would have to say that though I enjoyed the eerie swamps of Florida, the bustling cities and beaches and malls that it had to offer as well. The raw quality of Georgia, with wet clay between my toes and fresh warm sweet corn off the stalk that's been sitting in the hot Georgia sun; Tennessee would have to be my favorite.
There's just something about Tennessee that takes my breath away every single day. It's the same feeling I got on my first trip to visit family in Tennessee from Florida when I saw a real mountain, not just a sand dune or a hill. Real mountains, massive, and literally towering over cities. They're beautiful, almost alive. Though there are many big cities in Tennessee, I enjoy the simple beauty of the untouched mountains, and how even the biggest of cities are only but diamonds, adding to its elegance. Rural living all the way!
Also, if there were ever a zombie apocalypse, I could hide up on a mountain with a high vantage point very comfortably. Thanks for your question!
I like the city, with tall buildings if possible, yet close to me, with metro and highways.
My ideal location would be somewhere quiet where it's sunny all year round. I've lived in cities and in a rural areas and I much prefer the latter. Apart from the fresh air, I prefer the the slower pace of life. I avoid anywhere crowded and noisy so the countryside environment where I live suits me just fine - but if I lived on the coast in a sunny country then that would be so much the better!
As I have written here before, I prefer disappearing out there.
