Best Gaming Office Desks 2014
Choosing a Good PC Gaming Office Desk
Well organized space is one of the most essential thing to look for, whether you are looking for a gaming or an office desk. Some products are solely classified as PC gaming desks, but they tend to be ridiculously expensive and hard to come by. Most would rather invest their money updating their gaming rig or buying new headphones, monitors, controllers and other accessories, instead of buying overpriced furniture.
The expensive models offer features that cheaper models do not, such as cup and headphone holders, cable management, retractable surfaces, etc. Those "features" often become a burden, as they are often quite hard to clean or are to feeble and break by accident.
A good office desk needs to be spacious, easy on the pocket, functional and look visually stunning.
Best L-Shaped Desk for the Price
One of the Best Office Desks for PC Gaming
Walker Edison's Soreno L-shaped desk measures 51 inches in width by 51 inches in length by 29 inches from ground. Some home assembly is required, but it only takes about 20-25 minutes to set it up.
The design is very straightforward, there are no drawers or cabinets, which is a good thing for a gaming desk, as often you tend to see them as a hindrance.
The desk can fit up to three 32" monitors, making a good fit for multitasking. When applying pressure, it does not shake nor make alarming noises.
It is as spacious as it looks visually stunning, so even with one monitor on the table and a lot of empty space it still looks elegant due to the beautiful finishing. Overall it is a very good budget option, if a L-shaped is what you seek and the design, color and size are acceptable.
The thickness of the glass is 6mm.
Total weight of the product is 57 pounds.
Glass PC Gaming Desk
Cozy, Roomy and Pretty
Made and designed by Z-Line, this may be the biggest bang for the buck. The desk is by design very simple, it features black polished metal frame and clear glass on desktop. Assembly took me about an hour, instructions were clear, although they did not mention that the keyboard tray can be on either side. There is no actual need for a keyboard tray, because the computer desk offers enough space for multiple monitors and keyboard(s).
What I like to do, is rest my legs on the horizontal metal frame while playing, it does mean that you'll need to use Xbox or PlayStation controller, but it is very comfortable and the desk doesn't shake at all. If the need would arise, the product could also be used as two desks without the corner piece.
The dimensions, the large plates are 34.25" by 24", the corner piece is about 24" x 24" and the smaller shelf is 9.88" by 34.25". The height from the ground is about 30 inches.
When assembling, depending on your size and strength, you might need another person to help with the larger class plates - they are heavy.
Harbor Wooden Corner Computer Desk - Made by Sauder
This antique looking product, that I am currently using, will win no prizes in portability. It took me near half a day(5-6 hours) to assemble, and I like to think that I am quite good at DIY.
When fully assembled, however, this product is simply magnificent. The cherry colored cabinets and drawers look as if they are from an 18th century ship. The drawers and everything mechanical about it feels very nice and smooth.
The tabletop surface area is made of melamine. I have been using it for a bit more than seven months now and except for the one scratch mark, caused by my stupidity and a paper knife, it looks like new.
As gamers like to have powerful rigs, they need cooling. This is one thing that this product lacks. I am currently using laptops on this desk, but there is a cabinet, that would perfectly fit your rig. The cabinet doesn't have any holes, and drilling them, would probably not be an aesthetical improvement, so unless you have a powerful machine that needs a lot of cooling, I do not recommend buying this desk, otherwise this makes for an amazing workstation that you can be very pleased about.
Really heavy-duty product, all the pieces together weigh in at about 250lbs. It is very heavy and there's a more than "some assembly required". Once assembled, it is quite hard to move, so put it together in the room you are going to end up using it in.
Excellent Corner Desk
Spacious and Very Sturdy
Although not very easy to assemble(may take up to an hour to fully assemble), it can be assembled left and right-handed. When assembled it is as solid as a rock.
From ground to desk surface it measures 30 1/3 inches, the longer side is about 61 1/5 inches and the shorter close to 55 inches. It makes for a really spacious surface with lots of leg room.
Aesthetically very pleasing, the polished and tempered safety glass gives it a very sleek and modern look.
Thickness of the glass is 8mm.
Total weight at 102 pounds.
Why L-Shaped Corner Desks Are Favored
L-Shaped desks offer more space, whilst minimizing the need to move around. And when it comes to gaming desks, more space is simply better. As room is needed for multiple monitors, audio and gaming equipment. Also having a corner desk makes it easier to install a stereo sound system.

Setting the Desk Up - Dealing with cables
Once you have bought, assembled and installed necessary equipment on your desk, there's likely to be a lot of excess wires, that are aesthetically unpleasing and simply in the way. One way to fix it is to buy a bunch of plastic zip ties and the use them. Lifehacker has given a very clever option on how to manage the wires, I have linked to the article below.
