Best Women's Garden Shoes and Boots

Women's Gardening Boots and Shoes - Easy-care and Fun to Wear

Are you looking for practical but fun-to-wear women's gardening footwear? You'll find recommendations here for easy-care footwear for gardening and for keeping your feet dry in the rain.

My gardening shoes used to be just an old pair of worn-out running shoes. They worked fine up to a point, but they were difficult to clean after working in the damp garden dirt. After doing some research for more practical footwear, I found a few brands of women's gardening shoes that are easy to clean, easy to slip on and off, durable, and come in fun colors. Some of these brands also carry women's rain boots with the same characteristics.

I ended up especially loving the Sloggers Print Garden shoes (see below). They are cheery-looking on a rainy day, and are great for slipping on for running outside to fill the bird feeders, get the mail, or of course to garden.

Colorful Sloggers Footwear for Gardening

Sloggers is the most popular brand I came across for garden shoes and rain boots. This brand of garden footwear has a good reputation for quality and durability, and the shoes and boots are comfortable with a certain amount of style to them.

I was drawn to Sloggers because of their cheerful colors, appealing styling, and reasonable cost.

Their garden shoes are also fun to wear around town and as comfortable weekend footwear. Many of their styles are made in the United States.

My Top Choice

I fell in love with these cute Sloggers women's print garden shoes (shown above) when I first saw them in the gardening section of our local ACE Hardware store a few years ago.

They are comfortable and they keep my feet dry. They're also very easy to rinse off after I've been "mucking" about in our garden. They're easy to slip on and off, which is very helpful if my hands are full, or if I'm making a number of trips back and forth often between the house and the garden. And the colorful floral design makes me smile!

Since then they've added a number of other cheerful and colorful designs.

As well as being excellent garden shoes, they're great for:

  • Running out to get the newspaper.
  • Taking out the trash and the vegetable peelings.
  • Running errands around town, especially on a wet day.
  • Popping out to say "hi" to a neighbor.
  • Any time when I'd prefer quickly slipping shoes on or off.

Other Great Sloggers Styles on

Sloggers footwear is comfortable, has good quality and is moderately priced. From time to time you'll find some great sales of Sloggers on Amazon.

Besides the floral design that is shown on this page, you can find other cool patterns and colors for the shoes, clogs, and boots. Customer ratings are very high (4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon) for this comfortable and practical garden footwear.

Made in the USA

Did you know that Sloggers have been made in the United States for over 65 years? The company Principle Plastics was founded in 1948, and it was a front runner in the development of plastic protective footwear. They created the first clear plastic overshoe called the Drizzle Boot.

Principle Plastics still is in the same location in Los Angeles, where they produce Sloggers.

More Garden and Rain Shoes and Boots

While Sloggers brand is my personal favorite for durable and attractive garden shoes, two other brands are also high contenders: The Muck Boot Company, and Bogs Footwear.

The Muck Boot Company

Durable, good quality

The Muck Boot Company has high quality, high performance, comfortable footwear for outdoor activities such as gardening and general "mucking about".

Muck Boots shoes and boots are more expensive than Sloggers footwear, but heftier and more durable.

They're designed for working in "mucky" conditions in the yard, your garden, or on the farm. The Muck Boot Company shoes, clogs, and boots are water-proof, are easily cleaned, and the women's styles come in appealing colors.

Muck Boots for Women

The Muck Boots shoes shown below are the original garden green model, but they also come in pretty prints and brighter colors if you prefer. Also check out their clogs and boots. Owners are very satisfied with this brand.

Bogs Footwear for Women

Comfortable and supportive

Bogs Footwear has colorful and shiny garden shoes and rain boots for women.

Natural hand-lasted rubber with a four-way stretch inner bootie gives comfort and support in the garden, rain, or just around town! They have a ventilated airmesh lining.

Shown here is the Bogs Harper Waterproof boot. This shoe is great for keeping your feet dry whether you're out watering your garden, or running errands on a rainy day. And it looks cute with your favorite pair of jeans! You can also search for slide-ons, shoes, and higher boots that come in various colors and patterns.

This brand is often more expensive than the other two brands featured on this page (Muck Boots and Sloggers), but they are very durable and will last for a long time.

What Do You Wear?

Do you wear garden shoes or boots? What has worked well for you? Do you like another brand that you can recommend?

I usually just wear crocs and bare feet in the garden in summer, then hose both off at once - but in colder weather, whatever plain black wellies I've got in the potting shed. Now I want a fancy pair. The houndstooth boots would do very nicely!

Never expect garden shoes can be that fashionable. I have some patterned rain boots already and like them.

I think the sloggers would appeal to me the most as they look easier to slip in and out of...not to mention the pretty designs.

I love sparkling black and brown rainboots. You have displayed beautiful rainbow colours of shoes and they look great.
