Gardening Tools and Projects for Kids

Updated on August 23, 2014

Kid-Sized Gardening Tools and Kids' Gardening Projects

Gardening and Kids. They go hand in hand. Young children don't see gardening as work; they see gardening as a chance to be like Mom and Dad (or Grandmother or Granddad!). Children may see gardening as a chance to get messy - without getting in trouble! Children are naturally curious about nature and want to explore and discover what's out there in the great outdoors!

Now is the time to nurture that love of nature. Kids feel a lot of satisfaction and pride growing something of their own! And parents and grandparents benefit by getting time to work in their gardens, knowing their kids are learning valuable lessons about nature, and enjoying their children in the process! Help your kids or grandkids grow up loving being outdoors, loving nature and plants, and loving spending time with you!

I love the idea. In my dream of how I want life to be, it includes my kids, or in my case now, grandkids, working the garden with me.

We didn't do much gardening when our kids were little, but I wish we had. I started gardening after our kids had moved out on their own. What a great family project it would have been. Nice lens.

I got my love of gardening from my dad by following him around the victory garden when I was very small. Later on I helped him. It's something you don't forget. Jason used to help me with our garden, too. I think gardening is a wonderful way to teach botany, as well as where food comes from.

This is great. My 5-year-old loves flowers, so I'm going to have to try getting her into the garden this year so we can plant something together.

Again, I wished we'd had some of these kids sized tools when my kids were small. They loved to garden with me and had trouble with the larger sized tools. I want the John Deere Wheelbarrow.

When my kids were younger, they were always out in the garden with me and every winter, we hit the garden magazines and dream about what we will plant in the spring. Very nice lens. =)
