âDo not just select plants, rocks and stuff. Use them as an inspiration to design your own garden.â

Outdoor landscaping isn't just your little part of the world. It is a front and backyard that people, see and in this light, it talks about who you are. It is that thing known as 'curb appeal.â

It is neither time nor money wasted. Even if you aren't in the market to sell today, who knows what tomorrow will bring? When and if you sell there is return on your investment.

âEven a snail will eventually reach its destination.â The evolution of the garden, takes time (and patience). Plants in your landscaping mature -- and just as you do -- get better!

âTranquility has its humor. Maintain a peace of mind in the face of chaosâ

New Text ModuleLET’S START WITH AN INSPIRATION

How about privacy? It is difficult to relax and leave worries behind in a noisy, very open space. The barking dog next door wanting someone, anyone’s, attention disrupts a quiet meal. You just can’t clear your mind with any sense of calm. It also goes against your nature to have anxiety and stress instead of sanity and serenity.

In Mediterranean style, for example, homes are low-key on the public side. The gated area hides a private oasis behind. It is not unusual to see closed gates behind ‘hacienda’ walls. Homes are warm yet private.

Privacy is important.

For many of us a home has an open front yard. There may be fencing in the back, but it is a chain link, linked to chain links.

INSPIRE ME MORE

You may not be able to afford to replace the chain link with around-the-yard privacy fencing. However there are alternatives. A trellis with flowers and vines placed in front of the outdoor seating area provides some privacy. And if you do have a more private fence but it isn’t high enough you can extend the height of a fence with a group of shorter trellis’ on the top of the fence.

Attach coffee reed fencing to chain link, or to a support system to create privacy on a patio or seating area. Plants placed in front of the fencing soften the look.

Movable screens are another idea for screening off a private area and/or to hide a less-than-nice-looking view. They are great if you want to camouflage part of your yard like a clothesline or the neighbor’s clothesline.

SHOW ME AN ULTIMATE!

You can leave worries and flies and mosquitos behind in a pergola or a gazebo with mosquito netting, that could be also be situated behind the above privacy fencing and you multiply benefits.

Decorating a pergola can be fun with nice chairs and tables. There are all types of unique lights, including solar for evenings inside while still outside. A nice cast iron chimnea will keep you warm and extend the season outside. Wouldn’t you love a shaded siesta area where you can enjoy a soft spring, summer or fall breezes. It is a place to nap, to meditate and to clear your mind within the calm.

Are you inspired? If not yet, take a little tour outside and create a wish list. It could be a better time, there are still warm days and nights ahead, and you can extend them for yourself and your family.

If you live in an apartment and have limited space, it doesn't mean you can't have privacy too.

More and More Inspiration

The outdoor screen enclosure is movable. It is great for a patio, even a balcony. The coffee reed fencing rolls out and covers chain link fencing.
