Gray and Yellow Bedroom Ideas
A New Gray and Yellow Color Scheme For Your Bedroom
I recently decorated my guest bedroom with these beautiful colors. I love it! It's bold, crisp, clean and looks absolutely fabulous. I'm going to share my photos with you and give you a few more ideas for your decor.
I'm also going to tell you how I kept the cost of my new room under $1000. You can do it for less but we needed to toss out the shaggy green carpet that was in our room.
I hope you enjoy the tour of my newly painted room.

My Newly Painted Space
I purchased an older home that had some updates. The paint wasn't one of them. Our entire house was painted in a brown mocha color. It looks okay in the living room but I wanted the bedrooms to be bright and inviting.
We have three young children so we live on a tight budget. We have slowly been renovation the rooms in our home. The guest bedroom was one of the last on the list.
We saved up some money, researched some gray and black bedroom ideas on the internet and finally made over this room.
The makeover included removing the popcorn ceiling, painting and carpet installation.
The colors on the wall are Toasted Wheat and Drizzling Mist by Valspar paint.
A New Comforter
A bright new gray and yellow bedding set is the perfect way to find the colors you want for your bedroom. I haven't decided on the one I want for our room but I have narrowed down some of my choices. Here are some of my favorites.
Do you have a daughter headed off to college? Here is a yellow and gray twin comforter covered in beautiful Daisies.
This set includes a comforter, 2 shams and 3 decorative pillows. This comforter would work well in a room that had all of the walls painted yellow.
I love the giant flowers on this bedspread and the colors are perfect. I accented our room with black decor.
This bed in a bag has a very sophisticated design. It's perfect for a master bedroom or a guest bedroom. It includes The duvet cover and two standard shams.
Queen Size Yellow, Black and White Comforter Set
Choose a bold bedding set and make your bed the focal point of the room. We wanted our guestroom to reflect our personality but still make our guest feel welcome. I didn't put a lot of personal photos on the wall or too many accessories in the room. I do intend to purchase a bedspread that will really bring the room together.
A Family Project
Recruit Some Help
Redecorating can be hard work. We decided to recruit a little help. We included our children in this makeover. We wanted to keep them out of trouble and make some amazing memories.
Here we are painting the back wall dark gray. It is an accent wall and will break up the bright yellow color of the rest of the room so it isn't too overwhelming.
Removing Popcorn Ceilings
I don't like popcorn ceilings because I think they date the house and they are difficult to clean. We have slowly been removing it from our entire house. I can tell you from experience that it isn't a difficult task but it is very messy.
We use a steamer and a paint scraper to get the job done. Make sure that you do this step before painting the walls and installing new carpet. The popcorn can stain and will peel off the new paint.
How to Remove Popcorn Ceiling Yourself
You need to get your ceiling wet to scrape of the popcorn. I have used a squirt bottle in the past but it makes the job really labor intensive. I have found that using a steamer makes the job easier and really helps prevent damaging the drywall.
It can be very dangerous to remove a popcorn ceiling yourself, especially if you live in an older home. You should send out a sample for Asbestos testing or better yet, do it yourself before getting started.
You can find all kinds of fancy tools for scraping the ceiling but all you really need is a simple tool to get the job done.
Yellow and Black Wall Decor - Decorating on a Budget
I had a small budget to work with when it came to the decorations for this room. I purchased this extra large decal to cover the accent wall. I am really pleased with the results. It has makes a huge impression when you walk in the room and it cost me less than $20.00.
I will be adding family photos in black picture frames in the near future.
Inexpensive Decor for Your Bedroom Makeover
I read all of the reviews before purchasing this wall decal. I had never worked with a wall sticker that was so large so I was a little apprehensive. This decal shipped from China so it took nearly 3 weeks to arrive but it was well worth the wait. The finished product looks like it was painted on the wall. It does not come with written directions. It has a basic diagram that was easy to follow. It did have a large strip of clear tact paper in the package. We weren't sure what to make of it so we didn't use it.
My husband was able to put it up himself using a step stool and a leveler. It looks amazing and we haven't had any problems with it peeling off the wall.
Here Are a Few of My Favorite Gray and Yellow Decortating Ideas - Fill Your Room With Things You Love
Redecorating doesn’t mean throwing out all of your old things. I love to incorporate my existing décor with a few new items. This is one of my favorite wall frames. I was thrilled to hang it on the wall when we were finished touching up the paint. It isn’t something you would see in a Home and Garden magazine but it means a lot to me and represents my family.
You don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your house the home of your dreams. You can do it with a little hard work and creativity.
