GreenWorks Hedge Trimmer Review

Updated on April 18, 2014

My hedges were getting out of control and I knew it was time to buy a hedge trimmer. I went online to do some research and I found a model by GreenWorks that was very affordable and it had great reviews.

I went ahead and ordered the GreenWorks 22112 hedge trimmer. This model is electric so it gives off no fumes, its 4.0 Amp so it has plenty of power and its blade is 22 inches so it is big enough to tackle big jobs and small enough to get into tight spots.

I ordered the product early in the week and was hoping it would be delivered by the weekend. I was happy to find it on my porch when I got home from work Friday afternoon.

On Saturday, I used the GreenWorks hedge trimmer for about 3-4 hours and I am really pleased with how it works. It weighs less than 6 pounds so it never got heavy. My wife used it too for a bit and she said it was very easy to use too.

The hedge trimmer is very well designed ergonomically too. I was able to comfortably use it vertically, horizontally, and from a variety of angles with ease. It was light enough that I could use it one handed too.

I wore gloves and glasses which I suggest for most all yard work, but this trimmer had a nice sized safety shield too.

The blades are spaced 9/16" which means that it can cut branches that are a little over a half an inch in diameter. It was able to cut these larger branches quite easily too.

I think that this is an ideal hedge trimmer for most home owners. I own a couple of acres and have quite a few bushes and shrubs that need trimming and pruning. This GreenWorks hedge trimmer worked perfectly for my needs and I highly recommend it.

Here are some great products that can complement your Hedge Trimmer. These are some key products to help you with managing your yard work.

Coleman Cable 23098803 02309 16/3 Vinyl Outdoor Extension Cord, Orange, 100-Feet
Coleman Cable 23098803 02309 16/3 Vinyl Outdoor Extension Cord, Orange, 100-Feet

This is an ideal power cord for the GreenWorks Hedge Trimer. This extension cord is 100 feet long so you should be able to use your trimmer just about anywhere on your property.

Dewalt DPG55-11C Clear Anti-Fog Protective Safety Glasses with Dual-Injected Rubber Frame and Temples

Safety glasses are key for yardwork. You will wish you had them if you get a branch or debris in your eye. These are great too because they don't fog up on you if you are sweating or if its cold outside.

Fiskars 32-Inch PowerGear Bypass Lopper

These loppers complement hedge trimmers very well. Use the loppers for branches that are too thick to use the trimmer on.

Here is a video I made giving the GreenWorks hedge trimmer a review. Its a quick video that showcases some of the trimmers features and it also shows me putting it to use.

Here is a video of me using and reviewing my GreenWorks 22 inch Hedge Trimmer.

We can't use a hedge trimmer, but the lopper you've featured is a contender. :)
