Colorful Hibiscus Flowers

Updated on September 14, 2014

Hibiscus Flowers come in many Beautiful Colors

I love Hibiscus flowers. They come in so many bright and cheerful colors!

When we were in Florida this past year I became obsessed with photographing Hibiscus flowers. I'd photograph them after a rain shower, in the morning, and in the evening. I would have my husband pull off the road to photograph a variety of hibiscus that I had not seen before. It was great fun seeing how many different photographs I could capture.

In all I took several hundred photos...and although I promise not to share them all in this lens :) ...I will share some of my favorites.

photos by mbgphoto

Beautiful Double Orange Hibiscus

I love the bright peach color of this double Hibiscus.

This beautiful hibiscus was blooming outside our condo in Florida in March. It must be wonderful to live where these beautiful flowers thrive all year long.

Interesting Information on the Hibiscus Flower

Hibisucus State Flower

In researching the Hibiscus plant I found that it is the state flower of Hawaii and the national flower of Malaysia. The Hibiscus plant is one of the most popular and widely planted shrubs in the tropics. Most of the flowers only last one day, although some varieties might last for 2-3 days. Hibiscus plants love warm temperatures and thrive in tropical and subtropical regions. I found them to be abundant in southern Florida. The place where we were staying had hibiscus bushes surrounding the entire comples. There were red, peach, pink and yellow flowers. Very beautiful!

Bright Yellow Hibiscus - on Jupiter Island

These beautiful Hibiscus were growing right along the street on Jupiter Island. I had my husband pull off the road so that I could take this photo.

Hot Pink Hibiscus - Growing by side of Road

I photographed this beautiful hibiscus on Jupiter Island, Florida.

Double Pink Hibiscus

I found this pretty double Hibiscus blooming right below the window at the condo where we were staying.

Hot Pink Hibiscus

This is one of my favorite shots. I love the way the Hibiscus seems to be raising it's petals to the sun.

Beautiful Hibiscus flowers adorn these products.

If you live in a northern climate, here is a way to enjoy the beautiful hibiscus flower all year long.

Ibis & Orchid Hummingbird & Hibiscus Night Light #50003

I love this beautiful hibiscus night light.

Pale Yellow Flower

I thought this variety was a little unusual. I was able to capture the photo right after a shower when the petals were still covered with drops of rain

Beautiful Hibiscus Video - Beautiful flowers, beautiful music

Enjoy Hibiscus in the Midwest

Hibiscus in the Midwest

This pretty pink hibiscus was taken by my neighbors mailbox in Missouri. Although hibiscus are a tropical flower they can do quite well during the summer months in the midwest.

Single Peach Hibiscus

This flower is a pretty shade of orange.

White Hibiscus

I love the way this white Hibiscus looks against the dark foliage. I came back to photograph this in the early evening to get just the right light for the photo.

Books on Hibiscus Plants

Here are a couple of books on the Hibiscus plants.

I'd be hard pressed to pick just one. But the hibiscus is on my short list, along with lilies, morning glories, glads, and, well ... just too many to name. I've been enchanted with the hibiscus since the first one I ever saw, a white growing in my grandmother's yard. Your photos are just lovely; I'm so glad you decided to share them on Squidoo.
