Updated on July 5, 2014

Make Cleaning Easier with Huck Towels

Huck towels are great for cleaning. These towels are 100 percent cotton, lint free, and can be washed and reused again and again. Think much more environmentally friendly cloth towels are than paper towels.

What, you may be asking, is a huck towel? Well, huck towels are a specially woven fabric that is absorbent and perfect for big or small cleaning jobs.

Here are a few places where they're used:

~ hospital surgery

~ auto repair shops

~ car washes

~ window washing

~ basically anywhere that needs an absorbent, lint-free towel like your kitchen

Huck towels cost less than paper towels in the long run since they can be reused and are long lasting even with frequent washings. And the weave of huck towels is perfect for needlework and embroidery to make one of a kind kitchen towels to display and use.

I know what you're thinking. What's the big deal with cleaning towels? Well, the right ones make your job easier so you can do a better job faster!

Huck towels are sturdy, strong, but they're also soft and absorbent. They are used by janitorial cleaning crews, window washers, car washers, and people like you!

Use colored huck towels for specific uses. Keep blue ones for one job, green for another, and white for the cleanest items like cleaning mirrors and glass around the house.

Cleaning windows is one of those big jobs I seldom do, but when I do get after it, I like to use a good cleaning cloth that doesn't streak.

Huck towels have the perfect weave for needlework.

Embroidered Huck Towel with Sailboat

This photo shows a vintage huck towel that was embroidered with green thread. The towel features three sailboats drifting on the ocean. The waves lapping at the side of the boats are so pretty. And check out those little birds flying near the sails.

This towel could be used in the bathroom as a decoration or to actually dry your hands. But since it's old, I would only display it as a decoration. But I think it's a fine example of the beauty of a simple white towel, some green embroidery thread, and someone's time.

The embroidery books shown below are a great way to get started doing needlework on huck towels. Wouldn't a pair of these make a special Christmas gift?
