Updated on June 18, 2015

Hunter Douglas

Some years ago, we moved to a wonderful new house that had been fitted out by the previous owners with the absolute best of everything. Every fitting was of the highest quality. The blinds? They were Hunter Douglas, of course.

The name of Hunter Douglas has been well-known since as long ago as 1946, thanks to the huge variety of window treatments produced by this established company. Their high-quality window adornments include custom treatments, blinds and shutters.

Their name has become synonymous with style and craftsmanship as their tens of thousands of repeat customers will gladly confirm.

Let's start with the many types of sheers, panels and louvers you can choose from. Hunter Douglas produces the well-known Silhouette shadings for your window which feature their own signature S-Vane, which suspends fabrics between two separate facings. There is a huge variety of fabrics to choose from and many optional extras you can select to beautify your windows. The Nantucket window shadings are hugely popular too as these use facings that block ultraviolet rays from entering your home. In fact, the light they allow into the home has a particular warm and glowing appearance. Pirouette shadings use a classical fabric shade that creates a new way of controlling the light that enters your home and the ever-popular Luminette product is a perfect way of ensuring privacy.

Also, at an affordable price, the Park Lane range of sheers can be a great help when maintaining privacy in your home and many people today choose Hunter Douglas' Skyline panels which create gliding window treatments which are perfect in both modern and traditional homes. Honeycomb shades are a popular product also as these are available in sheer and opaque fabrics - plus semi-sheer and opaque versions too. You can choose exactly which is right for your home and your needs.

Traditional shades never go out of style. The Vignette Roman shades are perfect for those who want to have a clean and unfussy window treatment and other shades are available in various textures; take for example the Provenance shades which are manufactured from natural materials such as beautiful woods, grasses, reeds and bamboo. These suit so many different decors and there's a large range to choose from.

Traditional shades are available that will prevent ultraviolet rays from the sun entering your home and fading your furniture and artwork. If this is a consideration for you take a look at their Designer range. Pleated shades always look crisp and clean in any décor and Hunter Douglas has a huge selection to choose from in a large number of colors and textures. Also in the Designer range you'll find fashionable roller shades which give you a great deal of flexibility in your window treatment dcor. There's something for everyone.

Wooden blinds are perennially popular and Hunter Douglas offers you many finishes and colors to choose from. Their Country Woods collection feature many different options for you, including the popular Chalet Woods versions which are a very affordable way to introduce the style and quality of Hunter Douglas' window treatments into your home at an attractive price point. Take a look at the Everblind collection which give the appearance of shutters but has the added advantage of having the benefits that come with horizontal blinds. The Everwood range is constructed from realistic faux wood finishes. Aluminum blinds are also available and can be very economical. These blinds add a touch of flair to many interiors and have a wide variety of applications, including the ability to block out light entirely or adjust the slats to allow just the right amount of light into your home.

Hunter Douglas also offers vertical blinds that are available in many materials, colors and textures. Vertical blinds can look extremely elegant and in Cadence blinds in particular offer sound insulation and at the same time, translucency. Vertical blinds are often a budget option that can be extremely good value for money. For those who are looking for shutters for the home, you need look no further than Hunter Douglas. Their many years in business have made them the experts in the design and manufacture of shutter in real hardwoods and materials which use modern technology to add to their charms and their durability.

Whatever your window treatment needs, you'll find that Hunter Douglas offers many options that are suitable for any decorating style and for any budget.
