Why I Love My Le Creuset

Updated on November 30, 2014

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you needed to get a fancy dinner ready in less than an hour? Well I find myself in this situation quite often but somehow I managed to do that just last weekend.

My friends have a way of inviting themselves over at a moment's notice but I don't really mind. So I had to prepare a meal in less than an hour and all I had was a small slab of meat in the refrigerator along with some vegetables. My friends would be bringing the bread and a few bottles of wine. I quickly decided on a menu of roast beef, an Asian slaw salad and some store bought ice cream for dessert. With the help of my Le Creuset, I was able to take a quick shower, have dinner ready and compose myself with a glass of wine in an hour.

Why I Love My Le Creuset

The piece de resistance of my kitchen is my Le Creuset. Its an enameled round french oven made of cast iron that makes cooking so my easier. There are many reasons why Le Creuset is superior but here are some of the important ones.

  • Ingredients cook evenly
  • Impermeable to stains and odors
  • Seals in moisture and flavor
  • Easy to clean

In addition to the above, it goes from the refrigerator to the stove or oven and beautiful enough to be served at the table. I have made roasts, stews and even paella in it and my dishes always seem to taste better. I think this is due to the tight fitting lid that helps retain the juices and flavors of the food. And guess what? It even bakes bread and cake! No kidding!

The Most Beautiful Item in My Kitchen

One thing to note is that it's made of cast iron and is substantially heavier than your usual pot or pan So I usually like to keep it out on my stovetop. However its quite beautiful to look at and the bright orange color that I chose looks great adding some much needed color to my rather dull kitchen. By the way, Le Creuset comes in a variety of colors so yours doesn't have to be orange like mine.

I am not ashamed to say that I'm pretty much in love with my Le Creuset. It has helped me create many fantastic meals and the only regret I have is not getting one sooner.

I love to bake gratins, lasagna and desserts with these. They are not only easy to clean, they look beautiful on my dinner table.

I didn't realize these were cast iron, Smine27. The features sound very worthwhile, and I appreciate that you mention the weight of them. Lovely--and easy to keep on the stove! Excellent review. By the way, do we get the recipe for the roast??? ;-)

Thanks for sharing, especially the photos, looks yummy! I'll have to try a rice dish in my Le Creuset sometime, I hadn't thought of it before, thanks again.

I had one of these for decades and it disappeared, what with the moves and all. It was a fantastic cooker.
