I Love My Little Crock Pot
I have a history with Crock Pots. Before I go into that, I'd like to say that I've simplified my life and it's just me and my cat, so I now have this wonderful little basic Crock Pot with a removable crock. I love it. So, here goes. The story of me and Crock Pots.
The Wedding Crock Pots
It started with my wedding many years ago, and I have to say I'm happily divorced now. But at this major event, I was (well, we were) gifted five Crock Pots. Yes, five. I guess this was a popular gift in the early 1980s.
Obviously it was, since five different people decided to give us one. As luck had it, several of these gift givers offered to take back the slow cookers and get us something else, so I kept the big fancy one that sat on a black tray that looked like a griddle. I'm not sure what happened to that one, but I used it for many years.
This is my Crock Pot and I really like it. The best part is I can remove the crock to wash it. No, wait. The best part is I can put food in it and leave it all day and eat a delicious meal every time!
Moving On and My More Recent Crock Pots
My Broken Blue Crock Pot
Then I bought a blue Crock Pot after being without one for a number of years. It was fine but the crock was not removable and it was frankly a pain to clean. I had to pour hot water in it and scrub it up on the counter top since it wasn't submersible.
One day I was getting something out of the hall closet where I stored the blue slow cooker, and I set it down gently, I thought, on the floor. Well, it fell over and the nonremovable crock portion was suddenly removable. It broke, so out with the trash it went.
My New Black Crock Pot
I went without a Crock Pot for another year or so but really missed having one to cook roast beef in. That is my main reason for having a Crock Pot. I just love how delicious and tender it comes out. I bought this exact Crock Pot on Amazon and love it! It's small so it's easy to store. And I do not store it in the hall closet now! Learned my lesson there!
Features of This Crock Pot
This little baby holds a small roast (2 pounds or so) or several pieces of chicken or soup or whatever I decide to fix. If you're like me and only cook for one or for a few, this Crock Pot is ideal. And I love that it's sleek and black!
This is the first slow cooker I've had that has had a setting for Warm. I love it! I can cook my food and instead of having to either keep cooking it or remove it and put the food in the fridge, I can leave the food in the Crock Pot to stay warm without overcooking it.
