3 Ways to Add Florals to Your Decor

Updated on December 3, 2016

Use flowers, even in winter!

When spring reaches full bloom and heads toward summer, floral life beautifies your outdoor spaces while adding to the positive mood and giving you design inspiration for your interior. But, what if we want some of that charm and liveliness year-round?

It doesn't have to be springtime for you to decorate with May flowers. And, you don't have to have a green thumb to cultivate indoor plants. There are also many other reasons to go the non-traditional route when bringing floral decor inside: You may not want to have real plants inside if you have pets or travel a lot.

But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy florals in your house. Here are some ideas for adding floral decor using more than just bouquets!

  1. Use flower embellishments on linens and textiles. Instead of replacing your textiles, add flower embellishments to solid-colored curtains and table cloths to brighten an indoor environment. The hint of something new and fresh will add unexpected excitement and a splash of color. If you're looking for something that won't look completely out of place when winter or fall roll around, opt for white flowers like baby's breath. Or, delicate spring and summer staples like daisies, daffodils and cherry blossoms work nicely on curtain tie-backs, decorative pillows, and table cloths--parts of your decor that are easy to update for the season without making major changes. Add a floral element to any dinner place setting instead of using traditional floral centerpieces and watch as guests admire the subtle accents and creative thinking at your next dinner party.
  2. Don’t be afraid of wallpaper. For another fine floral option to brighten your entertaining spaces, add floral elements to the trend making a comeback in a big (and more convenient) way: wallpaper. It’s no longer as permanent as it used to be, and it can be a great way to freshen up a space without a lot of hassle. The modern desire to customize frequently has made way for easy-to-update options for removable wallpaper, including wall clings that add the perfect accent to a room.
  3. Add floral wall art. Another decorative way to bring the the outside in and captivate your guests is through artwork. Simple says a lot, and basic two tone prints that feature floral designs and silhouettes are blossoming on interior walls nationwide. Add to the theme by choosing frames that feature earthy elements. You’ll be amazed as your design ideas take root.
