Indoor Herb Garden Dome

Updated on April 4, 2013

Plant And Grow Herbs In The Kitchen

When I was visiting my son in Colorado during the summer it was beautiful weather most of the time I was there. A little rain I think but the temperatures were comfortable. The problem is that area can get very cold for most of the year and having an herb garden isn't really an option unless you have it indoors.

My son really loves to cook so it started to cross my mind I believe he would enjoy having something he could have indoors , perhaps even right in the kitchen, where he could have fresh herbs to cook with all year long.

I love the indoor options and started doing a little research to find out what kind would be the best. I started thinking I could even find a spot for one so I can have fresh herbs anytime of the year in my kitchen. They are affordable and make great gifts for family or friends who love to have fresh herbs to cook with and may not have the room or the climate to grow them out doors.

Why An Indoor Herb Garden?

Why would anyone want to plant herbs in the kitchen?

Indoor herb gardens and terrariums need less moisture than traditional planters because they make a lot of their own moisture so there is less watering. Be sure to read the instructions carefully so you do not over or under water your herbs and so you are sure to provide the right amount of light for your indoor herb garden.

You can buy them with or without built in lights so choose the indoor herb garden dome that suits your space and the amount of herbs you can use for cooking.

If you grow more than you need you can dry them or give them away fresh. Fresh herbs for cooking or for tea are great to have on hand and an indoor herb garden dome is a great way to plant and grow herbs in the kitchen.

IMPORTANT Do not leave children unattended in the kitchen until they are old enough to be safe and to read carefully.

Cooking with fresh herbs or making your own tea leaf is a fun way to have fresh ingredients on hand and if you have children you can bring them in on the fun so they will learn about plants, cooking, watering, sunlight, as well as how to use the fresh items in the kitchen. Bring them in on the cooking side of things so they can learn even more skills such as measuring, reading recipes, adding ingredients, and much more.

Intelligent Plant Light - Indoor Grow Light - Enthusiasts Love This One

Intelligent Plant Light

One of the most affordable indoor gardens with a grow light you can buy. Watch your plants thrive as they have plenty of light to grow by.

It is adorable as well! This would be a great idea for plants you want to keep inside in areas where there is not enough light for them. The light itself becomes part of the room decor. Perfect solution when it is chilly outside and opening the drapes lets the heat out. This way you are cozy, warm, and have lighted areas to keep plants happy all winter long.

If there aren't enough windows in the house or the light during winter isn't dependable then having a version like this one seemed like the best idea.

The only problem is if you have more than one area where you have plants. Yet... the light from them can also be considered another layer of decorating (the plant and the light actually). So if you place them right you could have more than one or even a few throughout the house.

This model (with light) a great choice if you want to use a light which is portable so you can use different pots or move the light around the house during the winter.

Though i have never had an indoor garden and many outdoors i thought the Aero Garden was a nice way to grow fresh greens because it is a hydroponic style system and there is no soil. No mess that is the cool part!
