What to do if your child is scared of the dark

How to get your child to sleep well

Kids can be scared or anxious at bedtime, this can seriously disrupt their sleeping patterns and cause friction in the home.

Noises within the house can also increase their fears when they are in bed in the dark. Your child's night time fears will decrease over time and as they get older.

Some tips to help manage your child's fear of the dark at bedtime

- put some family photos next to the bed, this can create some reassurance your child will not feel alone (its a better alternative to the parent sleeping with

the child)

- Get a night light, the dim light will give reassurance so that the room is not totally dark.

- Don't read any scary stories to your child before they go to bed ( or anything scary on the tv)

- Give the child a cuddly toy to cuddle in bed

- Keep a regular bedtime routine, you need to keep it stress free, your child needs to go to sleep relaxed.

We had them. Night lights were absolutely essential in our house. Get extra bulbs, too.

What a great idea for a lens. I'm always trying to learn from others things to write about, and this one is very creative. Good information.
