Use of lavender in treating certain health problems
Lavender-based products are used in internal or external treatment of certain health problems. Lavender is used primarily to treat headaches and dizziness. As emergency medicine, take not more than 2 drops of lavender essential oil with honey. As a long-term treatment, lavender powder is recommended: take one teaspoon before eating, four times daily. In the case of depression and mild anxiety tincture lavender is useful -1 teaspoon dissolved in half a glass of water, 3 or 4 times per day, during three months, minimum.
In the case of depression and severe anxiety crisis lavender essential oil is given as follows: two drops of essential oil mixed with honey, before eating. Extensive research done so far have shown that there is a certain selectivity of patients treated with this plant, some having no special reaction to the volatile oil, while for others there was a clear improvement of the inner state, which is improving by reducing mental sensitivity to fear and anxieties, reinforcing desire to live. Fatigue and insomnia may also be treated with lavender. The best results are obtained if lavender baths are taken half an hour before bedtime. In addition, it is better to put a small bag with lavender under your pillow. The sleep will be more restful and during the day you will notice a much better mental strength and self control. Internally, lavender tincture is taken: one teaspoon three times a day.
People suffering from cardiac arrhythmia can call on the help of lavender based products. In this case, lavender is an adjunct in cardiac ischemia caused by stress. Lavender is herb, par excellence against stress, and because of this long-term use will gradually lead to curing diseases caused by it. In cardiac problems there was an extremely favorable action of lavender tincture, which acts directly on the central nervous system. It is administered three to four times a day, half a teaspoon of tincture diluted in a glass of water.
Lavender plants are helpful for persons suffering from rheumatism. Make tea: one portion of elder flowers and two portions of lavender, one teaspoon of this mixture being scalded with a cup of water, then let it cool slightly and filter it. Drink 2-3 cups per day of this tea, as hot as possible. It tastes pretty unbearable, but a 10-days-treatment has excellent anti-rheumatic effects.
Lavender is used in winter, when flu, bronchitis and coughs are frequent. Mix 2 drops of essential oil with one tablespoon of honey and take a little of this mixture, which will not be swallowed directly, but it will be allowed to slip down the throat to exercise the full effects of anti-infective and pain killers. Take up to 6 drops of lavender oil per day, two drops per day for children. For people who suffer from digestive problems, bloating, gall crisis accompanied by severe headache, lavender is a good remedy. Take lavender powder, administer it before eating, one teaspoon four times a day. Because of its active bitter principles, lavender increases the secretion of bile and helps them evacuate, calming down abdominal pain and activating digestion.
Lavender plants are used in the treatment of health problems related to intestinal worms. It combines equal portions of lavender tincture, thyme and wormwood (all dyes are prepared as the one of lavender). Take a teaspoon of this combination diluted in water, four times a day before meals. The treatment should last minimum two weeks. Against lice and other parasitic insects, treatment with lavender-based products is highly effective. Mix 3-4 drops of lavender essential oil with a teaspoon of vinegar and apply it on hair, then cover your head for several hours, to form a vapor environment of volatile oil which will eliminate the insects. The treatment should take 7-10 days in a row.
Lavender can be used in treatments for hair growth. Massage the hair with lavender vinegar obtained by maceration with the above mentioned method. The fatty oil of lavender can also be used in the treatment and maintenance of dry skin. Immediately after bathing apply the fat lavender oil on the skin massaging it gently at the same time. If you have dry eczema, swelling caused by blows this fat oil of lavender should be applied on the affected area 3-4 times daily.
Household Uses Of Lavender Plants
To get rid of unpleasant smells from the house, put in one cup water 10 drops of essential lavender oil and 10 drops of essential peppermint oil. Use the solution to wipe the walls, floors, all areas that smell badly. Avoid varnished surfaces, because essential oils are powerful solvents and ruin the varnish.
To get rid of moths put bags with dried lavender flowers in the closet. Rub the content of the bags in your hands every day, so as to generate as much volatile oil as possible, which will keep off the insects. Ants, fleas and cockroaches flee from the smell of lavender. To get rid of uninvited guests, use a solution consisting of 6 tablespoons of water and 10 drops of lavender essential oil to spray twice a day in the places where they are hiding.
Lavender Spice – mix lavender with the thyme you use for cooking (in an approximate ratio of 1:5). You will get a flavor of both delicious and refined, and also more easily digestible. In the southern Alps, thyme mixed with lavender is given to people who eat a lot, in order to help them regulate their appetite and lose weight spontaneously.
Lavender Tincture It is produced by grinding the dried aerial parts (an electric coffee grinder can be used for small quantities) and the powder obtained is then put in jars to be filled up to one third, the rest being filled with 70 degrees alcohol. After adding the alcohol over the herb powder, tightly close the jars and leave it to macerate for 14 days, shaking occasionally the content for better mixture of the active ingredients. After the required time for maceration passes, the mixture is filtered through gauze, and tincture is obtained and stored in small dark bottles. A teaspoon dissolved in half a glass of water should be taken before meals, three or four times a day, Lavender aromatic vinegar In bottle with a wide mouth, place 10 tablespoons of crushed lavender, then add half a liter of apple vinegar. Let it soak for 10 days at room temperature, then filter it. It is used for massage and compresses.
Lavender fat oil - For half a liter of refined sunflower oil, add 5 tablespoons of dried and crushed lavender. Place it in a tightly closed jar and let it soak in the sun or near heat for 5 days, then filter it. The oil should be macerated with other five tablespoons of lavender, for other additional five days, then filter it and so on, until you get a very strong smell of lavender. It is used for massages.
Lavender baths - Take two handfuls of lavender and let it soak in 2 litres of water, for 8-10 hours (from morning to evening), then filter them. The plant which remain after should be scalded with 2 litres of boiling water, then cover everything and leave it to cool and filter it. Finally, combine the two extracts and the final product should be in the bathing water.
