Nespresso - Barista Style Coffee in the Comfort of Your Own Home!

Updated on October 28, 2013

My Nespresso Maker has changed the way I drink coffee!

There’s nothing that can compare to that glorious feeling of having your morning coffee. For years, I would drink drip coffee, fresh from my coffee maker. Then, one day I was round a friend's house who had a Nespresso maker. It looked fandangled and fancy, but let me tell you, from first sip, I was hooked!

Nespresso is a brand of high end coffee makers. They look cool and slick, and make the perfect cup of barista style coffee! It uses capsules, that easily fit into your Nespresso maker and creates your espresso coffee with the touch of a button, and the best bit – there is no extra washing up or cleaning of your coffee filter needed! The different types of espresso capsules you can use are delicious, it's like your own barista style coffee!

We’ve had our Nespresso maker for just over two years now, and can’t imagine life without it. It’s super simple to fill with water, from it’s little reservoir chamber round the back, and the choices of capsule are fabulous. You can go for dark, rich coffees right through to light and milds – even decaff!

The console comes fit with a milk foamer, to help jazz up your coffees by turning them into cappuccinos or a lattes. If espresso is your drink, then that’s easy! There’s an adjustable shelf that sits jut below the spout, to fit your tiny espresso cup, or to allow your mug in, to put your coffee shots directly in.

You can make as much espresso coffee as you want too. If you just want one shot of espresso, then easy! But if you want a bit more of the black gold, you also can go for a lungo instead. Usually, I set mine to lungo, then add in another round of hot water into my mug too, with a splash of milk – perfection. Then when the capsule is done with, it drops into a tiny little container, hidden within the machine, so no mess and no fuss.

I've had so many compliments about my Nespresso maker. Not only because of the delicious coffee it creates, but also because of the smart look of it. It’s a real talking point of the kitchen – and you know what? It’s fun to make! I really can’t imagine life without my beautiful little espresso coffee machine.

Getting capsules is easy too. You can either order them directly from Nespresso or Amazon. They usually cost around 50c per capsule, which when you consider that a barista coffee can cost up to $4 in some places, this is a little amount to pay for a very comparible standard of coffee. There are also a few Nespresso shops that are popping up in major cities, where you can go and stock up on extra capsules too – and even get a free coffee whilst you are there!

@youthministry: That's a GREAT idea. Although be warned, if you put a Nespresso in your Youth Room, no one will ever want to leave haha. Thanks for stopping by :)

@Nancy Hardin: Lol, thanks Nancy. I think I'm getting a bit too obsessed with Nespresso makers. I rave so much about it, even 3 of my friends have bought them since I keep going on about it, lol x

Sounds great, and I would try it, but I have a Keurig I'm really enjoying right now. Even so, this is an excellent review and makes me want one of these Nespresso makers. :-)

@RoadMonkey: Thanks RoadMonkey. I see getting the Nespresso maker as a cost saving - plus you can completely control what you add to it - soy, skimmed, syrup - at minimal cost. I heart Nespresso heaps!

Great lens, you sound really enthusiastic about your coffee maker and I am getting the feeling that I would like to try one. You make a good point about the cost of the capsules - my tall filter coffee costs me more than 3 times as much as one of your capsules, so actually, it would save me quite a lot over a year.

We have a Nespresso Pixie, and it is the best coffee maker I've ever had! I love the variety of coffees from Nespresso and how quick it is to also make your own latte in the morning with the milk foamer. I'm thinking about getting some of that hazelnut syrup for my lattes as well - then I wouldn't have to go by the coffee shop on my way to work - ever!

It looks, and sounds, like a delicious work of art. I had to sell my really nice barista style machine because of my solar power. These awesome machines just do not work on my off grid electrical system. So, tip a cup for me. Congrats on your win!
