Garage Sale Poems

MyFairLadyah Explores Garage Sales

When the weather gets warmer many of us enjoy looking for hidden treasures at local garage sales. These sales are also a great way to complete one's spring cleaning. Welcome to my own unique take on the subject of garage sales. You will see that it is sprinkled here and there with original poetry.

How to Have a Successful Garage Sale

Setting Up

It takes planning to set up your yard or garage sale

Clothing racks & tables are an important detail

Be sure to price each item, but then you'll cut a deal

Buyers like to think they've gotten a steal

Make sure to start the day with change a plenty

For a cheap little trinket you'll be handed a twenty

Get your signs out early, out by a major street

And give folks clear directions for a path to beat

Don't be surprised if some show 'ere the appointed hour

They want the bargains and have many sales to scour

Oft times the pros will canvass the "prime" yards

Looking with a practiced eye for antique discards

So look through your closets and bureau drawers

And the nooks and crannies that are stuffed like pores

Find what you don't need and mark them with a price

What does not sell can afterward be donated; how nice

When I Buy Your Junk

When I Buy Your Junk

I Load Up My Trunk

And Find a Good Use

As My House I Spruce

Going to Garage Sales

Inspired by the April 2010 Garage Sale for the Niwot Timberline Symphony Orchestra (now known as the Boulder Symphony Orchestra)

Going to Garage Sales can be a fun excursion

I'm aiding at one today; a charitable version

But hosting one yourself can be an awful chore

Today we help an orchestra purchase another score

A hundred musicians have contributed stuff

All the things are nice, there's nothing very rough

I hope they do quite well and sell the largest things

Then they won't need to store them by the strings

There is a good chance this will be an annual event

This year in a warehouse, maybe next year in a tent
