Outhouse Bathroom Decor

Updated on September 5, 2014

Country Decor for your Indoor Bath!

You may have indoor plumbing now, but with outhouse bathroom decor, your home can go down the garden path to a simpler time when everyone had to go out back to use the facilities!

Believe it or not, when I was a teenager and young adult, I lived in several places that had no indoor plumbing except for the kitchen sink. Two did not even have that much! We hauled our water into the house in buckets. I am grateful for the creature comforts my family enjoys now, but it is nice to know we can do that if we ever were to find it necessary again.

The closest I really want to get to an outside privy these days, is the way I decorate my "necessary room." This bathroom theme is whimsical, cute and totally country! It would look great in a lodge, camp, cabin or anywhere there is a bathroom!

Your bath will be pure country when you add this outhouse decor!

Country Decor for Your Bathroom

I especially like this whimsical shower curtain. A lot of other people do too, apparently, because it keeps selling out on Amazon! It's easy to see why!

This is one shower curtain that will certainly bring a country flavor to your bathroom. With this one focal point to set the stage, the theme can then easily be carried out with just two or three additional accessories.

Erm, I thought this lens was about what I thought it was about. It was. Now I feel quite terrified lol. However, I can see a cute, whimsy charm with them...but never gonna get one, lol x

I've blocked it from my mind. It's been a long time since I've been in an outhouse. The signs you have are cute.

I swear I have that same shed in your lead photo in my backyard right now. I was hoping it was an old smokehouse but I think I know better. Blessed!

We used to have the greatest Outhouse Bathroom Decor at our lake cabin but our children finally talked us into changing it.

My grandparents had an outhouse when I was a young child. I hated using it. They finally added on a bathroom and kitchen (it used to be an unattached building out back) when I was about 6. This is a cute article. Very clever.

Outhouse nostalgia... too funny. We had to use them for real. Yuck!

Yep, I grew up with outhouses, but I am not too sure why because the majority of the time we did have indoor running water. I recall one time watching my dad dig a new hole (my gosh that must have been hard work!) and he starts talking to someone in the hole, of course us kids try to see who, and he suddenly exclaims that he has finally dug right through to china. Ha!

I have a pal with an old, but still perfectly functional, outhouse on his property, which I *love*. While I keep more urban digs these days, I will freely confess that I am not above peeing in my backyard. Managing this gracefully as a female is a great way to build powerful thigh muscles!
