There's A Peacock In My Garden!

Updated on July 10, 2017

Lovely Peacock Statues For Your Yard

In the Pacific NW, USA many gardeners like to decorate their gardens with statues and ornaments. I'll share with you the very lovely peacock statue that I received this year as well as videos and ideas for making your own yard ornaments.

My wonderful son and daughter-in-law surprised me for Mother's Day with this very pretty peacock statue ornament to go in my new garden spot I've been working on for my vegetables. This statue is to replace the live peacock that we named Pedro and that I talked about in another article titled A Peacock Named Pedro that I wrote.

It looks so lovely and makes me want to add all kinds of statues and ornaments to make the space even more magical and fun.

The colors of this gorgeous statue ornament are very vibrant and metallic. There are little reflector glass beads at different points on his body. His body is aqua and his long tail is a bright green. His neck bogs and sways in the breeze and hopefully this will help keep the birds, squirrels, and kitties out of my garden.

This statue also came with a metal square 'u' shaped piece that should help keep him from toppling over when it gets windy as it can do here from time to time.

He is about 3 ft. tall so he is easily seen across the yard and from my upstairs office window. It gives me great pleasure to look out and see my new peacock statue keeping watch over my little garden.

Why Put Statues And Ornaments In Your Yard? - Because It's Pretty and Fun!

People have been embellishing their gardens and yards for eons with things that are sacred and have personal meaning to them.

Statues and yard ornaments help remind the owners of many different symbols and themes. In Roman gardens, many of the statues and ornaments that were popular would feature gods, athletes, politicians, philosophers, and even likenesses of the property owners.

Today's statues may depict different saints such as Saint Francis Of Assisi who is the patron saint of animals and nature. Another popular theme is gnomes, fairies and goddesses set up in different areas to create a more whimsical feeling to their garden. If you would like to see more examples of how to invite fairies to your yard, visit my article about Fairy Houses and Plants in Your Fairy Garden.

I like when a combination of themes are used to add personality and focal points throughout a garden. If I want to draw attention to a particular grouping of herbs or flowers, I might put statues or ornaments there that capture the colors and textures in that section.

My peacock ornament is in the section of garden where I have some lettuce starts growing and I want to have the peacock watch over them and hopefully keep different animals from picking at my lettuce.

It doesn't really matter what type of garden you have as I feel it is up to you where you want to place your statues and ornaments. If it feels right, put it there!

It gives me such pleasure to look out my window and see my plants growing and to take a stroll out to water them and visit for a while. These little breaks help reduce my stress levels and help me to relax and become inspired in many creative ways.

Peacock Planters - Home and Yard Décor

My garden is way too small for statues. Maybe a pink flamingo or two, but that's it.

Unfortunately, I don't have a garden because I live in an apartment. But you know what I have come across as a garden statue? A giant dinosaur to give a Jurassic park theme. I think I stick with peacock anytime if I do have a garden and want some statues in it!

What a thoughtful gift that peacock statue was. Did you name it Pedro, after the one that flew off in search of a new Sweet Pea?

I always wanted a real one since one visited my yard, but with pets that would be a no-no. This would work.

I love your garden peacock. What an awesome gift and tribute to Pedro. Every time I go to Lowe's for DIY project supplies I find myself wandering over to the garden center to check out the decorations. I'm looking at some southwestern style statues featuring desert hares, coyotes, etc. (for a new rock garden).

Yes indeed. I was already planning on fixing the garden after a two year absence due to poor health. This year the bed is almost ready to be planted and the back yard is going to be confiscated back from my husband and his never ending supply of wood (I wonder where the heck he finds half of it?).

These statues are gorgeous! So unique and not as common as the pink flamingo statues you often see. I'd love to have something like this in my garden one day!
