Pictures of Intact nature in my neighborhood

Updated on July 10, 2012

Walk with me...

Half a year ago I moved to a small village in Slovenia, Gaberje. As I'm a nature lover, I'm slowly exploring the surroundings of my home, and I was really impressed. A few steps from home I was walked into an untouched nature, which is, unfortunately, in these days of advanced civilization, increasingly rare. In Slovenia, the extinction of certain plant and animal species are protected by the program Natura 2000.

"Its main objective is to preserve biodiversity for future generations. In protection areas we want to preserve animal and plant species that are rare or have been threatened in Europe." I am glad that people are increasingly conscious of protecting nature, since the only way to future generations can also enjoy the beauties of the greatest artist of the world - Nature.

Walk with me!

All pictures in this lens are mine.

The flowers of Hawthorn can also be gathering for healing purposes, it can be used to improve heart problems and blood pressure regulation, but also prevent atherosclerosis. Some also recommend drinking tea with problems of menopause.

Fruit can be used for the preparation of jams, liqueurs, or add them to compote.

Major role is played Hawthorn in superstitions, because it was believed, that only by Hawthorn pole can kill a vampire.

"Crataegus commonly called hawthorn or thornapple is a large genus of shrubs and trees in the rose family, Rosaceae, native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere in Europe, Asia and North America. Haws are important for wildlife in winter, particularly thrushes and waxwings; these birds eat the haws and disperse the seeds in their droppings."

Bird Cherry

When you get close to Bird cherry, that overwhelms the sweet scent of its flowers. Although this plant is usually seen as a shrub, but in this forest are huge trees, which rises to over 10 meters, which gave me to know, that people here really do not interfere with nature. Because of it's sweet smelling and beautiful flowers I think, that must have this tree in my garden, so I must find one baby tree to take it home and enyoj it's beauty every day.

"Bird Cherry (Prunus padus) grows to about 10 m tall shrub or tree. Long inflorescences are developed simultaneously with the leaves. Inflorescences of many fragrant white flowers are initially prominent but then tip downwards. Mature spherical stone fruits are about 7 mm wide. Shiny black fruits are bitter and not edible! Bird cherry is widespread all over Slovenia, but is most common in the northeastern part."

Old White Willow

The forest has a large number of giant willows, which in itself offer a question, "how many years they needed to have risen to the enviable height?" Although, for my taste is most beautiful Weeping willow, but when I looking at this giant, was completely charmed.

White willow is a natural source of material, like aspirin, is used to treat rheumatism and arthritis, primarily for pain and inflammation.

The sun in his farewell has amazing lighting and visual effects, which also draw on the nature specific images. Repeatedly fascinates me, but I ca't, as an amateur photographer, captured this moment of beauty in my lens. Some attempts have borne fruit, but I know that still have much workto do, to magical effect of the setting sun can also conjure up in the picture.

I enjoyed seeing a bit of your countryside today. I imagine that it is more beautiful in the winter. I hope that you will give us a sample of that too. SquidAngel blessing.

Beautiful pictures of nature at it's most basic perfection. Even the swamps are beautiful in your country. I know what you mean about trying to capture the sun's last farewell of the day. :)
