PUR Advanced Faucet Water Filter Chrome Review

Updated on November 8, 2013

When looking for a new sink mounted water filter you would be wise to consider the PUR Advanced Faucet Water Filter FM-3700B for your home. I recently had to replace an ancient under the sink filtration system that broke for no apparent reason. Under the sink filtration is great, but if it breaks get ready for a big mess and in my case water damage to the wood under my sink. Now I had to make a choice as to what filtration system I should use in my home. I have a family of 6 and we drink water as our primary beverage, so a good filter is what I needed.

I started my quest like everyone else does by talking to friends and searching on Google for water filter reviews, and I could not believe how many are out there. There were so many that contradicted each other I could not figure out which way to go. I procrastinated for a few days and then decided to go with one that has an NSF certified filter on it and is under $30. To me an NSF certified filter is important because it meets international standards for water filtration. Now my water is not terrible, but does not taste that good so in my opinion a good filter is necessary.

I was looking for something that fit my requirements of under $30 and has NSF certified filters and that lead me to decide between a Brita system and a PUR system for my kitchen sink. They both have almost the same style and the filters cost almost the same so who filters out more I asked myself and I found the answer. The PUR and Brita filters take out 50+ contaminants from the water but the PUR removes two that the Brita does not. Those two are mercury and MTBE. Mercury is the stuff in thermometers and sometimes make it into groundwater and the other is an additive in gasoline. Now all things being said I decided to go with a PUR Advanced water filtration system for my sink.

Like I mentioned earlier reviews for all water filters are all over the map from love it to hate it. Every single one I looked at for all manufacturers suffered from the same mixed reviews from customers. Well I casted them to the side and made my decision knowing that if I hate it Amazon will take it back because they are a world class organization to purchase from so I had no fear.

Well my PUR advanced water filter FM-3700b arrived yesterday and I was so excited to hook it up and start to finally get some filtered water in my house. The installation was simple, and I was able to get it up and running within 5 minutes with no tools required. In case you don’t know I am a little challenged in the home plumbing department so if I can do it anyone can. I was so proud of myself that I made an installation video that you can watch below.

Overall the PUR Advanced water filter FM-3700b is an outstanding water filter that fits any budget. You install it in minutes, enjoy healthy clean water, and never have to buy bottled water for your home again. I use the PUR water filter for my family and it is a great choice for yours as well.

This is my actual video that I made to document my PUR water filter instillation. I am not a very "handy" person, so if I can do it anyone can.

It does sound like a great product and a worthwhile investment. I've been using Britta, but filtering mercury would be better. Great review and congratulations on Best Of!
