Rain Pictures from Around the World
Rain can represent change. It can be peaceful or it can be powerfully destructive. It can conjure up images of renewal and joy or depression and sadness. The images you find in rain pictures are merely up to your interpretation.
On this page, we have a number of pictures of rain, from droplets on flowers to brewing storms in the distance.

In this photograph, a storm is approaching. It's not just some harmless moisture dropping from the sky, it's a powerful electrical event with thunder and lightning. This isn't a storm children will race around in, it's one that forces you to take cover and listen to the awesome display of natures power from the safety of your home.
This image seems to depict a summer rain shower. It's a soaking kind of rain, the kind that a lush green forest depends upon. The leaves filter out the harshest of the weather and soak up a bit of the moisture they need before the excess falls to the ground and feeds the millions of roots below the surface.
Depending upon your perspective, the long walk home in the rain can either be a source of contemplation, relaxing, a chance to splash around a bit, or tiresome. Of course, when you are prepared with an umbrella there's really not too much to worry about when it's a calm day as it appears to be in this instance.
While we most often duck in out of the rain, the flora doesn't really have that option. Petals, leaves, and blades of grass must bow down as raindrops accumulate on them. This slouched posture won't last though, once the sun returns and the foliage is relieved of the extra weight they spring back with renewed vigor following a good drink. The blooms below appear to be Foxglove.
In this photo, it appears that a storm has passed. The rain can still be seen out over the water beyond the homes and barns near the beach. A colorful rainbow appears as the sun breaks through.
For millions of us, this photograph brings back fond memories from our childhood. Gentle summer rain is a perfect chance to run around in the downpour to cool off or to simply splash around after the fact.
While there is certainly a time when frolicking in the rain is ideal or we get caught out in a downpour, most of the time we prefer to hide away indoors and observe the display while staying warm and dry. The lull of steady rain is the perfect backdrop for a nap. In this image, it's easy to imagine a rainy day seated by a window, reading a book and gazing out the window as time stretches on.
This image shows the beauty of raindrops falling into puddles on the ground. The ever-present and gentle pitter patter sound reassuring the soul.
In this photograph, light rain has started to fall. A drive through the country takes on a different feel. As the pavement begins to accumulate moisture your tires begin to hum. As the rainfall picks up, the sound of it drumming against your windshield and the rhythm of your windshield wipers insulates you from all other noise. Your car suddenly becomes a safe haven from the elements.
This image gives you a glimpse of what you would see if you venture out after a rainstorm. Water beaded up on every blade, leaf, and petal. It's delicate, refreshing, and a likely a sign the plants would be purring if they could.
Wet streets and splattered windows are a familiar sight after a good rain. This picture was taken in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
A sudden downpour or a day-long drenching can both turn sidewalks, hiking paths, and streets into rushing streams and rivers. This type of weather is why rain boots are made.
This photograph shows one of our feathered friends enduring or perhaps enjoying a gentle rain. If he is well preened, his feathers may be water repellent so perhaps he is unfazed by the inclement weather.
This rain picture demonstrates how dark and heavy a rainstorm can be. Clouds, thick and low, shut out all of the light confusing us as to the time of day. They create a monochrome world. When it's passed, the recolorization and brightening of the world are not unlike the arrival of Dorothy in the Land of Oz.
Certainly, the idea of spring creates many images in the mind. This photo captures two prominent ones. Cherry blossoms and rain.
In this image, you're on the streets of New York in a rainstorm. As in all cities, life goes on whether you are driving, biking, or walking.
In this photo, you can see that an autumn rain has passed through. The brightly colored leaves are still shedding water droplets.
Here is another image which was taken after the storm. This macro shot of a raindrop laden flower is striking. The detail and lighting give it the appearance of being glass or crystal artwork.
This is another lovely shot of a peaceful, secluded spot along a park or garden path after rainfall. Damp and quiet, even the insects and small wildlife haven't yet emerged from their hiding places.
Deep in the woods, there is shelter to be found from light rains but as it continues or becomes heavier, the life-giving rain finds it's a way through. Filtered light, damp footing, and a quiet that is disturbed only by falling droplets make this a magical place.
A lush garden needs rain and plenty of it.
A final photo takes us down the path through a rain-soaked woods.
