Review of Lithonia Lighting T12 Fluorescent Fixtures
My basement used to be a dimly lit "Dungeon" with only a couple of incandescent bulbs to light the 1500 square foot basement. Now our basement is a well lit playroom on one side and workshop on the other with the edition of the Lithonia Lighting T12 Fluorescent Fixtures. These inexpensive fixtures are really a great edition to our basement making it a usable living space. Each fixture is 48 inches long, 5 inches wide, and 5 inches long. They require two forty watt T12 Fluorescent energy efficient bulbs which are not included. Each fixture was a glossy white durable baked enamel finish. I used a total of 14 fixtures hung from the studs that hold up the first floor, they were hung long side parallel to the longest wall. I used a laser level to insure that all fixtures were straight with reference to each other. Wiring was straightforward with only a Hot (black), Neutral (white) wires that had to be wired from the fixtures ballast, which ignites tan arc in the Fluorescent tubes, to the house electrical system. In addition, there is a green colored ground screw on the fixture used to properly ground the enclosure.
The only downside is that the metal edges on the base enclosure are extremely sharp! A slip of my hand while securing the enclosure to a stud sent me to an Urgent Care for a couple stitches on my index finger. Lesson learned, from that point forward I wore leather work gloves during installation. The sharp edges are not exposed once the cover is installed over the base.
Lithonia Lighting T12 Fluorescent Fixture are inexpensive and easy to install and would be a great lighting edition to your basement, attic, or workshop.
