A Review of the Shark Steam Mop
The Shark Steam Pocket mop is a small, light electric steamer that cleans hard floors and freshens carpets. It comes with two heads, a square and a triangle. The heads are covered by washable, reusable covers. No soap or cleaner is required, all that is needed to run this mop is water.
My first experience with this mop came when my sister and I were cleaning my late mother's house in preparation to sell it. She had been in a nursing home for a while and so the house was rather dusty. My sister brought her Shark Pocket Mop over to clean the floors. I was surprised that it was so easy and quick to set up, I had always thought that steamers were a messy hassle to use. Nothing could be further than the truth! She simply held the tank under the faucet and filled it with water, and then plugged it in. Thirty seconds later, it was ready to go.
All she had to do was run the mop over the wood floors on the first setting: DUST, and they came instantly clean. All the dust gathered on the pad. Then she moved to the bathroom where the linoleum floor was a bit dirtier, especially around the toilet. She switched heads to the triangle one, and turned the mop to the second setting: MOP. The smaller head fit easily around the toilet and the steam made cleaning much easier. She was done in a jiffy.
Moving on to the laundry room, which has a ceramic floor, there were a few dried drips of fabric softener on the floor, so my sister turned the Shark onto the last and most steamy setting: SCRUB. That steam hit those dried on drips and they wiped right off. She even used the mop to clean the front of the washer where the fabric softener had dripped down. It came right off the enameled surface.
Needless to say, I was impressed. Not only was this little steam mop easy to use, but it worked great and made floor cleaning easy. My sister loves her mop and she highly recommended it, but nothing sold me more than seeing it in action. I decided I I was definitely buying one.
Since I have had mine, it has not disappointed. It does a great job on my wood kitchen floor, and my tile bathroom floors. I have used it for a few unorthodox things as well, like to help loosen a wallpaper border in my laundry room and to clean some particularly dirty metal blinds that were hanging in the garage window. It really is more versatile and useful than I previously thought. At such an affordable price, I think that no home should be without one of these great appliances.
I have purchased these because sometimes when I am doing a big job, like the basement floor, you need more than one head. They get really dirty while scrubbing walls and floors, but I just spray them with a cleaning solution like 409 or Fantastik and then toss them in the washer. They come out spotless, every time!
This video is extremely detailed. It starts out showing what parts come in the box, and how to put on the handle. Then they go on to explain the different heads and their uses, and the different settings on the appliance. Any questions you may have about the Shark Pocket Mop will be answered if you watch this video.
