So. Cal. Pool Tile Cleaning

Updated on December 20, 2013

Cleaning Glass Swimming Pool Tile

As far as I am concerned nothing compares to the beauty of glass pool tile. I have restored thousands of pools over the last thirty five years and I think glass pool tile is simply the very best looking tile on the market today.

Having said that you need to be a well informed consumer because nothing is harder to clean than glass pool tile, the very best defense is, do not allow it to get calcium build-up in the first place.

Please: I can almost hear, oops too late for that suggestion. Just for those who have new tile Iâll tell you how to accomplish this Magic.

Attention: These simple instructions will keep your tile clean and calcium free.

First make sure your pool water is always kept perfectly balanced, Next and extremely important is make sure the calcium content in the water is between 200 and 300 Parts per million. Brush tile once a week.

Check out this amazing before and after picture of black glass pool tile. The reason I say amazing is black glass is absolutely the hardest to clean because it shows everything and we restored it perfectly.

The rest of this web page will explain exactly how I accomplished this magic.

How Glass Pool Tile is Cleaned. - Renew Don't Replace

Now learn why I told you it's better to just keep the glass tile clean in the first place, about seven years ago when I first started seeing glass pool tile I tried cleaning it with acid, glass bead, nothing worked next I tried a system that used high pressure water with minerals this worked as long as it didn't blow the tile off the plaster.

It sure was a good thing my very first job was installing pool tile. LOL I was just about to give-up on cleaning glass tile when I discovered soda blasting.

We were polishing a huge granite fountain for the Chino city engineers they had just soda blasted off some graffiti and I asked him to hit the calcium build-up as well. To our surprise the calcium build-up came off and there was no damage to the granite at all.

This was enough for me to go buy my own soda blasting outfit and the rest is history the soda blasting process is the only thing I have ever found that works perfectly every time.

Re-Glazing: Makes your Old Faded Pool Tile look New Again - Pool Tile Re-Glazing

Restoring faded over cleaned pool tile is now possible because of advanced Nano science that makes a molecular bond possible, (In simple terms the tile and coating become one) with the exact hardness as granite, you see all other coatings use an adhesive bond that can and will peal.

To say this is a big deal is an understatement Just take a look at my video and watch this old blue faded over cleaned pool tile being transformed in front of your very own eyes

Makes me want a pool really bad now. I like the video using the soda blasting, that is also used for taking off paint on cars.

This seems like a great idea rather than having to replace. We just redid our pool after we bought our home and it was the same cost essentially as having a new pool put in.

Interesting. I can't think of many people here in Connecticut that have such embellished pools. Maybe it's because we have a shorter season. Mostly I see just concrete. I guess this is food for thought.

These photos and the information here are remarkable. My daughter has a pool, I will have to forward this to her. I don't even know what kind of pool she has, but I'm sure she will find these tips helpful. Thanks for sharing!
