Best Shoe Storage Ideas

Shoe Storage and Organizers

No matter how many shoes you accumulate there is always a need for storage. You can store your them in many different ways. In my home you can find them set nicely and not so nicely under the bed. Next to the couch and the television and set randomly on the steps.

These universal ways that shoes are kept, scattered about, can be erased with one or two organizers. I started to take control over my mess of shoes with a simple over the door rack. I have it on the inside of a closet door and its great.

Not Chew Toys

Have you ever had a pair of perfectly good shoes destroyed by someone you love? It is more common than you might think.

If you have a dog, especially a puppy, in the house your needs for storage increase ten-fold. No matter how much you say NO the storage racks and open cubbies are not going to keep your best pair of heels safe from a teething canine unless they are in a closet. I have a friend that got a puppy. She was not prepared for the work that came owning a big breed and the puppy got the run of the house. In the beginning she was losing a shoe every day and she had to find a way to keep them from her dog. Simple storage was the answer.

You might want to consider getting a storage cabinet when your dog already got a taste for shoes. . Not only will they keep those expensive favorites safe, they will also add a new dimension to your room.

You can't expect your puppy to go 'cold turkey'. Here is a great alternate to those shoes your dog can no longer terrorize. I love that it is shoe shaped.

Wooden Cabinets

Simple style and Fancy Carpentry

I love the look of this and it does not take away from the beauty of you place. Some people are blessed with lots of space in their home and prefer the look of a cabinet. More likely they already have one and with a few easy fixes it can be made into a convenient, easy access storage area for foot wear and more. Your imagination is the only thing stopping you from creating the perfect place.

Men's Shoe Storage

There are many different ways you can save or organize your shoes. I still store mine in the original boxes which is great if you don't mind opening boxes to find what you are looking for. Of course it also helps if you don't own many pairs. Most men have the basic footwear needed for dress, work and a couple of pairs of sneakers for different things they decide to do. In my dad's wardrobe I can only remember a pair of work boots, a pair of black dress shoes for church and the occasional night out or celebration and a pair of bedroom slippers. Today men have just as many types of sneakers for days in the week. That reminds me I do remember dad had a pair of canvas sneakers.

That being said you can easily use the original shoe box but it is nice to have a special place to keep them. I found the best way to store shoes is a hanging organizer that goes on the inside of the closet door. There is always room and you have little pouches where you can store other small things.

Why Store Shoes Under the Bed

Another of my favorite storage places is under the bed. I find getting the right size storage containers makes keeping thing hidden away under the bed the perfect place. You can get sectioned clear containers for shoes and all you need to do is pull out the organizer choose what you want and push it easily back into hiding.

  • This storage unit has clear plastic that protects your shoes while keeping them free from dust bunnies.

Shoes of Interest

I love all kinds of shoes and have started a board on Pinterest that is filled with just shoes. I add to it almost every day because there is never a shortage of interesting footwear to be found. From high heels for the sexy woman to slippers for the young at heart. I do add some of the stranger shoes I come across. You are welcome to check them out and follow the board.

Any Ideas?

When I was younger wearing sexy high heels was a must. With my best dress to my favorite jeans but as I got older they are no longer important. I am more interested in comfort than anything else. No wonder you don't get noticed as much when your older :) I can guarantee if I still wore 4 inch heels I would get noticed even more today than years ago. Simply because I would need someone to help pick me up from falling off them all the time. My ideal footwear would be sexy comfortable shoes.

Having shoe racks is essential to organizing - especially attractive models like you have found.

@mockingbird999: It is certainly better than hanging them above the door, especially if your short.

I need a shoe rack. My shoes are starting to fill up the shelves in my closet. I like the bamboo ones near the top of the page.
