Why Buy a Whistling Kettle

The whistling kettle is an excellent way to help remind people who may be forgetful or may not hear so well that they have water ready for use on the stove.

I would love to have one of these kettles as I often put the water in my automatic switch off electric jug and then get so engrossed in what I am doing at the computer, while waiting for the water to boil, that I totally forget about the tea or coffee I planned to make. Unfortunately, with a husband often working night shifts and having to sleep during the day, a whistling kettle is not an option.

The whistling kettle creates a welcoming atmosphere. We had a bright red whistling kettle when I was a child. I remember entering the house from the cold on a winter's days feeling the warmth inside the house and hearing the kettle whistling. Grandma would be waiting, ready with our favorite biscuits to go with a warm cup of tea.

Like most families, our family had set routines on weekdays. Mother got out of bed well before us in the morning to go to work. Her morning routine was always the same, so I knew when I heard the kettle whistling in the morning, it was time for me to get up and get ready for school.

Other times the kettles whistle served almost as a calling. On a lazy afternoon during the weekend or in the evening, we would just wander in the direction of the kitchen when we hear the kettle whistle, knowing there would be company, and the water is ready for a cup of tea or coffee.

Le Creuset Enamel-on-Steel 1-4/5-Quart Whistling Kettle - A low kettle with a broad base for faster boiling.

This very classic looking 1.8 quarts Le Creuset Whistling Kettle comes in a variety of modern colours. It is not made of cast iron like other products in the Le Creuset range, but from sturdy steel covered with coats of tough enamel.

The lid opening is protected from chipping by a shiny stainless- steel rim. To protect your hands form the heat, the whistle can be opened with a lever while you can lock the high handle in an upright position for easy pouring.

Although, for better functionality, this kettle is lighter than Le Creuset's other products they have not compromised on style or quality.

Villeroy & Boch Whistle Tea Kettles - Villeroy & Boch Cottage Kitchen Teakettle

This 2-quart whistling teakettles best feature is that it looks gorgeous. It is made of heavy-gauge carbon steel coated with a durable porcelain enamel finish and fitted with a heat resistant handle. You should not put it in the dishwasher. The instructions recommend that you thoroughly dry the kettle after use. This is to prevent rusting inside the kettle.

Do you like whistle kettles? Do you have a favourite brand of whistle kettle?

We still use an old fashioned stove-top kettle - but might be changing soon - we just got a glass covered stove-top - and don't want to damage it.

We have a kettle in use every day. I have the Royal Albert, Old Country Roses design and my husband has a Spode one, with the traditional holiday design. Love your kettle colors, and design. Your kettle, Villeroy & Boch Petite Fleur Kitchen Teakettle is sweet!
