My True Story Of My Love Affair With A Swiffer Duster

Updated on November 8, 2013

I'm in a new relationship - with the Swiffer Duster. Now, those of you who only know me from my internet ramblings may not realize the irony here. My friends who know me well are grinning by now.

So, how did this love affair start? Well, I was cleaning (my friends who know me well are LOL now). Yes, I got into a nesting mode and started in on dusting and mopping. For me, this was a positively cleaning frenzy.

I was looking for one of my microfiber cloths which I use to dust my furniture and (cue love music) saw this box of Swiffer Dusters. It seems to me that my good friend, Carina, must have bought them at some point and stowed them away only to be discovered, oh, a year later. See how often I clean out my closets?

To make a long story short (too late), I figured, 'What the heck?' and put the handle to the pad refill duster, and I was off. I'm telling 'ya, I was singing and dancing on tippy toes.

So, I dusted and sang and danced. Then I dusted and sang and danced some more. My Swiffer duster was looking pretty dusty but darned if the thing wasn't working - and working well!. I was firmly in love.

Now, being the thrifty girl that I can be (the friends who know me well are on the floor right now), I thought it was a waste to throw a new Swiffer duster in the trash so I took it outside and beat it against the deck. Tactical error. I was coated in dust. The correct way to try to get another use out of the duster refill is to gently rub it back and forth against something. The dust will mostly fall out.

Then I set in to dust the furniture in the foyer. The Swiffer refill worked almost as well the second time around. I say 'almost' as it was quicker to fill up with dust and not have any more adhere.

Conclusion: These Swiffer Dusters are da bomb! DA BOMB, I'm telling ya. Get on with it and buy them. Go ahead now, get going. No, WAIT! Scroll down and see my pictures that I took of the duster on the job. Click on each picture to see my witty remarks.

The Swiffer handle is pretty short - only about 12" from top to end so you might want the extension.

Don't let me sit here getting dusty all by myself. Leave me a comment. Please.
