Everyone has a few keepsakes stashed away. A Memory box with childhood memories, photos of family and friends and other keepsakes.

They are the things you collect throughout life that remind you of a certain person or a special day.

I'm going to share with you a few of my favorite memory boxes that fill my home and a few tips to help you preserve your precious keepsakes.

Here you will find a variety of beautiful wedding keepsake boxes, Military display cases, baby keepsake boxes and wooden memory boxes.

I have a few photo boxes in my closet. I started collecting them to organize old photos.

I have one photo box that has become very special to me. It looks just like the other boxes but it has become a storage place for my children's keepsakes.

Keepsake boxes come in many different shapes and sizes they are as different as the contents that they hold.

Choose a special keepsake box to hold your special items. You never know how long they will remain stored away in a little box.

I had every intention of displaying my items but life has kept me very busy and I just keep adding more and more to the box.

The Special Contents of My Memory Box

What To Put In A Keepsake Box

My memory box contains two handmade dolls. The dolls were made for Sofia and Abby when Sofia was still in the NICU.

It also contains two hospital bands and the leads our daughters wore their first few months in the hospital.

It is amazing how a few simple objects can take you back to a different place in your life.

Our daughters are tough three year olds now and we have a beautiful baby boy.

Many things have changed in our lives since we placed those items in our memory box. It is easy to forget the tough times but my memory box serves as my time portal taking me back to the little room in the hospital with two fragile babies.

It also serves as a reminder that anything is possible.

A Place To Keep Memories

I am always on the lookout for the perfect memory box.

I would like to have a special box for my childhood memories of my mother,

a memory box for each of my children and perhaps

a special keepsake box for my husband and me.

My favorite Keepsake Box

This is a very personal small, wooden keepsake box. This box has an inscription on the inside that says " forever friends, forever true"

This keepsake box is a perfect gift for a friend on any special occasion. It is a small box that can sit on a dresser or nightstand and remind your friend that she is someone very special.

Wedding Shadow Box

Bridal Keepsake Box

I wish I could say that my beautiful wedding gown was displayed in a mahogany shadow box in my home. Instead, like most brides, I have it neatly stored in a hope chest at the foot of my bed.

I take it out once a year in the winter. I admire the bead work and the detail in the lace.My precious dress, that was once loved so much is now stored with the winter blankets.

It is a shame that something so significant is so easily forgotten.

My other wedding trinkets are scattered throughout my home. The unity candle adorns my dresser; the center pieces are stored with the Christmas decorations.

They deserve a special place in my home. I would love a beautiful wedding box to be passed on to my daughters.

I am very proud of the time I spent in the military.

I served in the Army for ten years as a firefighter.

I asked my husband for a military shadow box several years ago. He gave me a beautiful wooden shadow box to display all of my military items and a flag that was flown over ground zero in New Your city. I had the box stored in the closet for over a year.

I was so excited to put it together but never seemed to find the time.

He surprised me for our anniversary with my military shadow box complete with flags, patches, ribbons and ID tags.

What goes into a military shadow box? It is really up to the individual. My shadow box has a picture that was taken of me when I was flying on the back of a Huey. It was my favorite assignment.

It also has my ACU name tags because I spent the majority of my time in a work uniform or flight suit.

I would advise that you look up the proper placement of ribbons and crest if you are going to include them in your memory box. They should be displayed as worn on the military uniform.

I love all of your memory boxes Mamabird, especially the one with the two little dolls for your babies, this one is the best because it's most special to you and it shows. :) This is something I'm sure your children will love even when they're adults.

Yes indeed, my house is full of them, I can't seem to throw anything away. between my husbands military memorabilia and my stuff, it always gets stored in a box for the memories...Guess maybe because I lost everything during the war then coming to this country, I had to leave whatever I did have behind... It had an impact on me. Now that I'm older I get depressed with all that I have, realizing my old memory suitcase is all that I need (see my lens "My Life Story in a Suitcase"

      I really enjoyed this lens:

Wow your wedding dress was absolutely gorgeous. I collect items yet I rarely keep items of memory. I pass those along to my children and other relatives. I just realized this.

I have old cameras used during my childhood. Lots of cards sent to me. Really, I'm anti-clutter and have discarded a lot over the years, but you have me thinking about what I've got left and how best to store it. Thanks!

I do and I use it as a grounding box to help me with my PTSD from the Army. I have mine set up as Past, present, and future things. BTW, thanks from one veteran to another. Welcome back, it is never too late to say "welcome back".

@Wednesday-Elf: I completely understand I have wanted to put together a scrapbook for my daughters since the day I found out I was pregnant but I just can't seem to find the time.

When my Dad died and we prepared to move Mom into my house, we found a bunch of my childhood things she's stashed away - including a purple clay handprint from kindergarten. it's one of my favorite things ever.

I had a box for each of my children in their bedroom that I put special things in as they grew up. Nothing fancy, but gave it to each of them when they moved on. Have fun making memories.

I have several wood boxes that hold memories. Its nice to go through them some times to see and touch them. Some memories are so dear, and I see you are busy making many you will cherish and pass on.

I don't have a memory box but I do have keepsakes stashed all over the house - I just like the idea of stumbling upon them and reminiscing. I should probably invest in a memory box though for the extra special memories.

I have a lot of different memory boxes. Some were inherited from my mother. I love going through them.

I guess I'd have to say I do have a memory box... rather, boxes. I have boxes of photos and other boxes of 'saved treasures' ... all of which I keep meaning to put together in an organized fashion. Perhaps some day....! :)
