If you want to have a beautiful flower garden but you don't have time to cultivate and focus more attention on gardening, and you don't have the so called green thumb, and it was worsen because you have a poor or bad rocky, compacted and sandy soil. You can still have beautiful flowering plants that can suits your location and lifestyle. You just have to choose flowering plants that do not demand extra care because they can survive even on a poor or arid soil condition. This plants and flowers will not die even if you forgot them to water early in the morning.

Though plants will be happier to have a sweet soil for them, there are other types of plants that will not really depend on high quality soil for their survival and showing their beautiful flowers. Even having their roots on a poor soil, they will still manage to get nutrients they need for survival. What's more is, these plants can be as beautiful as those flowers who require and demand extra attention and care.

Lantana have a mix of red, orange, blue, white and yellow small flowers called florets. Most of the time, Lantana has a mixture of two colors on its florets. Blue and white, red and orange or red and blue. They can grow from 1.5 meters to 2 meters high. They can also be put on butterfly garden because butterflies are attracted to them, like Swallowtail, Birdwing butterflies and Cloudless Sulphur. There are birds who are also attracted to lantana like Weaver birds. The female birds use lantana florets for decorating their nest.

Planting the tubers of dahlias with depth of ten to fifteen centimeter can also provides protection from frost.
