Vintage Motorcycle Wall Decals

Updated on November 27, 2014

Classic Motorcycle Wall Decals and Stickers

I remember very well the moment when I purchased my first motor-bike. It wasn't anything flash or spectacular. It was the mid 1970s and the latest bikes from Japan were taking the United Kingdom by storm. I longed for one of the new, exciting bikes from Suzuki or Kawasaki - but these were just outside of my price range and I had to settle for a cheaper Eastern European example - it was all that I could afford back then, but I loved the freedom it gave me and independence I gained from it. So I suppose it should be no surprise that I have something of a nostalgic view of this mode of transport.

Removable wall decals are easily applied to any smooth surface such as a wall, mirror or cupboard and when you are ready for a change, they easily peel away to be reused elsewhere.

What is meant by "vintage" when discussing motorcycles? There is some debate, but generally, it is considered to be any motor-bike that is older than 25 years of age.

The worlds most largest motorcycle manufacturer by era:

Indian - up until World War 1

Harley Davidson - up until 1920.

DKW - late 1920s to early 1930s.

BSA - post World War II

NSU - 1955 to 1970s

The image opposite is of a Triumph T 110 650 cc from 1954 - I just adore this bike.

So what is it that causes so many of us to have an interest in, or indeed want to collect these icons of a past age? For me, it is the memories that they invoke. The sight of an old motorbike being driven along the road, instantly rolls back the years to a time when I experienced the instant freedom that I had from riding my first motorbike.

For some, they see these classic modes of transport as an investment. They are drawn to prime examples of their type, perhaps just to own for a while, but with the hope that one day, they will make a good return on their purchase.
