Vintage Red Apple Cookie Jars

Updated on June 5, 2014

Apples or Cookies....

Decorative looking vintage cookie jars are a cheerful part of the kitchen. When you spy the cookie; your sure to get caught your hand caught in one looking for a home backed cookie.

Vintage cookie jars are taken back to a time in Grandma's kitchen or otherwise my Mom's kitchen. They originally date back to around the 1930s. With me, it takes me back to my Mom's kitchen when I was little. Her apple cookie jar was her favorite because it was a wedding present. I remember her baking chocolate chip cookies; they were my favorite. Dad liked his cookies as well; he called them his sweet snack. Mom would keep the cookie jar filled with everyone's favorites. Later on as I got older Mom didn't want the apple cookie because she wanted pass it down as a family heirloom. She stopped using it and put it up high for just pretty to look at. The apple cookie jar was passed on to me before she went to a Care Center. It is in great shape and the paint is not faded much at all. Its one of my favorite family heirlooms that sits in my kitchen as reminder to those olden days as a child.

In this lens I will share a picture of my Mom's vintage apple cookie jar and more of the story that goes with it. I'll share with you more decorative vintage cookie jars that are still around. They're an added older day simplicity vintage touch to a kitchen.

The cherished apple jar that's been passed on to me sits in my kitchen filled with childhood memories. It was given to my parents as wedding present 66 years ago. Doesn't that sound like a lifetime ago? Little did my parents know when they got married they'd end up having an apple farm of 250 apples trees.

This apple cookie jar is special reminder of their wedding and the apple farm they owned and I grew up on. It is one my favorite cherished vintage antiques ever from my Mom.

During the time that I was working on my Cookie Jar lens, I went to a friends house and noticed her Vintage Red Apple Cookie Jar. She told me that it had been her mother's and that they used it the whole time she was growing up. I am pretty sure it is just like the one that belonged to your mom so I will certainly share this page with her. I have hers featured on my lens.

It's official CherylFay, when the older generations pass on and we inherit their stuff there are always some really great items that remind us of our younger days. :-)

There is also quite a bit of garbage mixed with it though. lol
