You Want A Chiminea!
Not sure if spring is going and summer is coming or if we are going straight for winter again. Either way, I never thought I would be so happy to set up the chiminea again. It's one of the events you remember so happily, yet, if you don't do it often, you forget how good it is. Anyway, we needed a new one. We were proactive and got off our backsides to find one. It was so easy once we were up. So easy to see the range on Amazon and pick one. Cast Iron or ceramic? It's up to you. Get what looks good to you. So just do it! Luckily the weather held and with all the garden debris and a few fallen twigs, we were soon in a very relaxed happy mood sitting round our new chiminea. It's one of these central items that will bring the whole family together. Stop the kids from playing on the computer and actually see them want to come outside with us. Something novel about sitting around a fire. It's like being back at camp ( but in a good way). Of course, safety first. These things get hot, so please please take care and warn all that are around it. I'm sure you know that anyway. Particularly good was when the sun disappeared, and it's started to get cooler, there is something mystical in the sights, sounds and smells of being around around a chiminea as the evening goes in.
As it gets cooler it's a lovely family activity to sit around the chiminea at the weekend drinking hot chocolate. As the children get older and busier, we all reslish every minute we are able to spend together.
Luckily, I am able to grow Rosemary and Bay in my garden and I often chop some sprigs of each and put them into the Chiminea. The aroma is wonderful and I find it relaxing.
I've had a great time and so glad we got one and so glad we spent the time around it. It's makes every one happy!
Keep looking until you find the one for you
And don't forget
Safety first. Do make sure you place your chiminea is on a solid not flamable surface. Make sure you have sufficient distance around your chiminea. They do give off tremendous heat. Never use flamable liquid or accellerant fuels to assist lighting your chiminea. Always let your chiminea burn out naturally. Ensure all children are always supervised.
