Why You Should Gutter Clean

Why You Should Clean Your Gutter

This lens tell you why you should clean your gutter the ways you can do it and what can happen if you don't. It will list some of the damage that can happen from leaving your gutter to overflow and how to prevent it.

Why You Should Clean Your Gutter the reasons

Just because you can't see what builds up in your gutter doesn't mean there's nothing there. People tend to forget about there gutter when it can be a big contributor to your outgoings if things get bad.

You get tiles, pieces of slate, birds nests, dust, dirt, debris, leaves and moss etc in your gutter. Left to build up it stops the flow of the water in doing so it will cause your gutter to overflow which can cause structural damage.

It can damage the bricks, cause wood root, leak in to your basement and cause moss to appear all down the side of the house and on the pavement causing a slip hazard.

The running water can also bubble or remove your paint, There can be smaller damage to such as causing your gutter to bend and break or the weight of the water can pull the gutter from its brackets which then will have to be replaced.

How To Clean Your Gutter

There a few ways to get your gutter clean and unblocked you can get a ladder and get up to the roof with you trowel and sweeper and get right in there. But then theres the safety risk of being on the ladder or slipping when its wet.

Also older people seem to struggle with the task as they become less mobile. The other way of doing it is to get or higher someone with a gutter vacuum ( probably best to hire as they can be very expensive to purchase your self). with one of these all the work is done from the ground keeping the person safe.

They can normally go up to 30ft and with extra pipes attached go up further making this manual chore a safer procedure. They are a great piece of equipment. I got mine done by www.Staffordshireguttercleaning.com because their my local on but if you live further a field there are one for london etc .

want your gutters cleaned

If your in the staffordshire area i know a good company that do gutter cleaning check them out here. There are sites you can go on as well that have reviews of the company from the customers.

The Back To Basic's Way

A few things to note is when your getting up there have a sturdy ladder and make sure its not up against a slippery surface. Make sure you have a container or a bag for any rubbish or dirt etc, beware of any high winds or rain.

You must beware that slate or tile can fall down at any time so you must be careful when your up there. This may sound silly but if your on any medication that may cause drowsiness then i would recommend keeping of the ladders as you could endanger you self and others.

we had to get our gutters fixed after two extreme snow storms left them sagging! I think they attached extra clips or something.
