Do opposites attract or should you go for someone with the same pace/temperament as you?

Paula Abdul Was Right

In my humble opinion, the old song by Paula Abdul (Opposites Attract) is definitely the way to go. Of course this is being said by a short Jewish guy who has been with a 6 foot black man (former altar boy) for almost nineteen years now.

Is it wrong of me to think that when people date people who look just like themselves they are a bit narcisstic or trying to find a better version of themselves in their mate? (I get it that the old cliche holds true that you double your wardrobe if you're a gay man that dates someone your same size)

Hey, love is hard enough to find and for some even harder to hold onto so there's another song, "Love is where you find it" that may just be the best advice of all!

Guru-C, Lol. I loved that! Couples that have been together either seem to become complete opposites and people will say "How did they ever get together" or it seems like they become the same person. I think, it has to be a balance.

I'm a neurotic kvetch and my husband is a good natured, even-tempered, easygoing angel. Once in a while, I see a characteristic of mine creep up on him to which I'll remark, "Please, don't become like me!"
