El Tapatio Hotel Resort Guadalajara

Updated on August 26, 2007

El Tapatio Hotel and Resort is a gated compound located within 5 minutes of the Hidalgo International Airport in the neighborhood of Tlaquepaque, Guadalajara. The hotel is set upon a hill and features beautiful lighted views of Guadalajara, along with a park-like garden setting.

All 120 rooms have been fully remodeled since 2002. Seven room levels are available, ranging from a standard choice to a presidential suite. Many rooms feature a balcony overlooking pools, cobblestone pathways and colonial construction additions, such as stucco, archways and tiled techas (roofs).

El Tapatio also offers 6 meeting rooms for your conference needs. Attendees enjoy free parking directly outside of the hotel and great proximity to the airport.

Recreational offerings include pools with swim up bars, a racquet club, several bars, a gym, volleyball court and a jogging track. In addition, visitors have several restaurants and bars to choose from. In the high season, the hotel offers attendees social options such as guest mariachi bands and dance lessons.

Some visitors have mentioned drawbacks. At times the food is not well rated. Since the hotel is located off the main route to and from the airport, traffic noise may be apparent. Tourists to Guadalajara may want to consider a resort closer to the downtown area, as this hotel is a 10-20 minutes ride from everything except for the airport. However, taxis are easily available, and are a safe and affordable option. A shuttle bus may be available during certain seasons.

Rooms start as low as $80 USD per night, and the hotel is rated 5 stars.

The resort can be reached from the U.S. at 1-800-327-1847 or within Mexico at 01-800-36-18000. Website in both English and Spanish is available at
