How do you make someone fall in love with you?

Updated on September 18, 2008

Love is not something you "fall" into

First and foremost, nobody can control who they are in love with. Those are feelings that are beyond our control. Secondly, love is not something that you "fall" into but something that is grown into. You can date someone for a while and think you are just hanging out as friends only to realize later that you are growing to love that person.

Love is more like a garden in progress. You sow the seeds of respect, appreciation, laughter and all the other wonderful aspects of a relationship before love truly blossoms. If love is not nurtured, either it will never grow or it will eventually wither and die.

If you know for sure that you are truly in love with someone, all you can do is to be yourself. If they don't love you for who you are then to try to become something you are not just to impress them will be in vain. Or at best, temporary. Sooner or later the real you will emerge and it is highly possible that the love that you did have turns into resentment.

The best way to find true love is to stop looking for it. Become content with who you are and let things happen naturally. You will meet the right person when you least expect it and you won't have to force love. You may even think that it is love at first site but most likely it is more like infatuation at first sight. The actual love comes a bit later as you get to know each other and grow respect respect for each other. When you find that special someone you will both know it!
