Business Cards

Updated on December 20, 2007

Business cards are very important device for marketing. These are primary business introduction instruments and promotion tools. This is quiet an important print medium equipment that is sure to bring significant results from the consumers.

This is not simply a card for identification; it is indicative of the status of the person in a company and the standing of the company in the market.

It projects the image of the person or the company to the outside world. If the business card is designed and printed in the best way with a high standard quality paper, it can boost the image to a higher level. A poor show of the card will express a deprived strength of the person and the organization in meeting the market needs.

Besides the quality of the paper or plastic card, the importance should be given to the design and color of the print. Many a time, a simple card with one or two colors is good enough to express the idea of the card. But a card with multicolor printing is the order of the day. Care should be taken not to mix too many bright colors in the business card.

The picture should also be simple and marvelous and capable of expressing the idea of the business; the picture should not over shadow the clear letters showing the name of the person, company, address and the simple details.

The business card should be developed in a way that brings name, fame, prestige and also good business to the organization. It must express the idea of the business in simple words, slogans or catch phrase. It should contain details of contact address, phone, fax, e mail id etc.

To make the business card as a communicative tool to bring customers into the business fold, it should have simple ideal catch phrases. It must say about the qualitative benefit of the company’s business idea and also the economic feature of the product or service. Too much of details are not necessary in the business card.

A two wheeler mechanic was advised to print a card with his name and address with a flying motor cycle. The catch phrase was: “Petrol saving techniques! Less expensive mechanic!”

These phrases assured of a quality service and great benefits to solve the burning problem of the society in that particular two wheeler field.

This card had a miraculous effect to bring voluminous customers who wish to have great mileage at an economical service charge.

Thus a business card can be a ‘Business Success Card’ provided it takes all the business strategy principles incorporated into it.
