South Beach Diet Phase 1 at Wendy's

Updated on November 14, 2007

Eating at fast food restaurants is sometimes difficult to avoid, especially when traveling through airports or on long stretches of highway. But rest assured, even if you are on Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet or another low-carb diet plan, there are options at fast food joints such as Wendy's. Usually they revolve around salads and diet soft drinks, but there are options nonetheless. Here is what we uncovered for SBD Phase 1 for Wendy's:

Chicken Caesar--Romaine lettuce with grilled chicken breast fillet, grape tomatoes, Parmesan cheese and garlic croutons. Avoid the croutons and go easy on the Caesar dressing it comes with.

Chicken BLT--Romaine and iceberg lettuces, spring salad mix, tomatoes, cucumber, cheddar cheese, bacon crumbles, marinated chicken breast fillet, and garlic croutons. Again, avoid the croutons and instead of the honey mustard dressing it comes with, have a low-carb dressing such as ranch or Caesar.

Acceptable beverages at Wendy's are bottled water, coffee, Diet Coke, hot tea, or unsweetened iced tea.

I always thought the chili at Wendy's was a good Phase 1 option also. Is it not??
