South Beach Diet Phase 1 at Burger King
Eating fast food is never a great idea regardless of what diet you may be on. But with the South Beach Diet, your options are extremely limited. Just about every item is a sandwich with white bread, or something that's breaded, fried or both. And your side options are limited to french fries and onion rings. Also, most of the drinks are loaded with sugar. But believe it or not, there are a few, albeit very limited, menu choices if you're on Phase 1 of South Beach.
Tendergrill Garden Salad--Grilled chicken breast comes in a pouch, letting you put as much as you like on a salad that consists of lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and three cheeses. Just take off the carrots, which are not allowed on Phase 1, and take off some of the cheese if there is too much on there. For dressing, your best option is Ken's light Italian. They offer a fat free ranch, but fat free dressings are usually loaded with corn syrup or other fillers.
Side Garden Salad--You can hardly make a meal out of this, but if you're looking for something light or as a snack, it's a pretty good choice. Just lettuce, tomato and carrots (again, take these off) and your best dressing option is the Ken's light Italian.
For drink options, your best bet is the Aquafina bottled water. But you won't be hurt by Diet Coke or by black coffee either. The coffee is available in regular and decaf, and also "turbo strength," the latter of which you should avoid because caffeine is to be somewhat limited during Phase 1.
