What The BSL Doesnt want you to see

American Pit Bull Terrier...An American Hero

Dozer ( on one of these pictures you can see a Mickey Mouse Patch on his side)

Dozer's Story

Hello there my name is Rose and this is Dozer an American Pit Bull Terrier. Dozer is a Medical Alert Service Dog and he is an extrodinary dog. I rescued him as puppy You see, he was chained to a black berry bush in the pouring rain. He had been beaten and starved. You could count almost every bone in his body and see the bruises all over him. He was so weak he could barely lift his own head to even look around and see what was going on.

I took him in and everyone told me this little puppy was going to die and I should take him and have him put to sleep to end his suffering. But I could not do this to him. I could see something in his eyes that told me not only was he going to make it but he was going to be special.

So I stayed with him 24 hours a day, I squeezed water into his mouth with a wash cloth to get liquids into him and I nursed him back to health little by little. And slowly he reagined his health and became stronger and bigger. Before I knew it I had a healthy and happy Pit Bull on my hands.

Dozer was the greatest thing to happen to me and during his recovery we bonded like you could not imagine. I could not give this dog up. You see I have done animal rescue for about 15 years now and I was use to giving up the animals I rescue after they are better and ready to be rehomed, but I could part with Dozer. We had become one.

A couple of years later an incident happened in my life that caused a head injury. And I developed a seizure disorder. Dozer seem to know that my seizures were not a natural thing for me to have and responded to each and every one of them. And it didn't take him long before he was able to tell before I would have a seizure.

I took all the neccessarry steps to find out if he was truly alerting me to my seizures and discovered that he indeed was, and he was then trained to be a Certified Service Dog.

Now Dozer works as my Medical Alert Service Dog and can give me a 15-45 minute warning before I have a seizure. He can now also tell me when my blood pressure is getting too high or when I am about to have an asthma attack.

He will go and get assistance if I do come out of my seizure ok and is trained to help me with balance control as well. ( he is big enough and strong stong enough to catch me when I loose my balance)

Without Dozer in my life I would be afraid to leave my house, for fear of having a seizure and hurting myself. ( I once fell and broke a tooth from having a seizure and hitting a small concrete pole at a park) But with Dozer able to go everywhere I go I am able to live my life without fear of just dropping.

If the BSL has it way Pitt Bulls and Rotties will not be able to prove themselves worthy for this type of work. And they are great for it. I mean after all they are big enough to pull a wheel chair, or assist you in getting up and walking if needed. They are great for police work and they are so very loyal.

Well I just wanted to tell you a little bit about Dozer and how wonderful he is. I hope these videos show you a little bit on how wrong the BSL is about this beloved breed. And the good that they really can do. If I can change even one persons view on a Pit Bull then I will feel better.

Thank you for taking the time to read my Hub and watch these videos.

Its time we have a law Pass in the United States that says all service dog should know 10 tasks to be able to go out in public also should be dress for work, so people will know its not a pet.

I know what the ADA says but how many of you think this should be a law. To many people are self-training service dog just to do one task, that not a service dog ADA says TASKS.

Please help get this law pass in your home state.

About time people talk about Epi-Pen Response dog That the type of service dog mine is.All people that use a Epi-Pen need to have same rights out in public as any other type of service dog. But please train them right. I'm going to look up that website that will be making the patches Pup'parel and buy two to put on my vest.

We need more people to write their governer. and congress person in their state and try to get a law pass that give them same rights as any other service dogs out in public.

I have a epipen responds dog and here what she does for me she goes get my epipen when I need to use it. also calls 911 and open doors so people can come in and help me, also alerts to the smoke alarm going off, pot boiling over on stove will alert me. And also she rides the public bus with know problem. I was told that Pup'parel online will make you a epipen responds dog patch the style you want patch to look like. Also she knows the hug cue and still learning more things every week. I'm in High School and my type of service dog go to school with me.

But must have all basic down good and be able to do a tasks for you any dog that can do a tasks for you under (ADA) is a service dog.

I also bought my service dog vest and dog backpack from Pup'parel online.

Don't let people tell you that a epipen responds dog is not a true service dog. Look what they say about seizure alert dog even some doctor don't believe in these type of service dog can know when a person going to have a seizure.

I self-train my own service dog by clicker training! When you read in a clicker book and it says trick it not a trick for a service dog its a tasks. You can teach your epipen responds dog all the things in the clicker book, it will make a better service dog.

These type of working dogs are never called epipen alert dogs, why because they can't alert you before it happen they can only help you after the attack. If you put Epipen alert dog patches on and tell people its one of these type of working dog they can kick you out of public places for lying.

Make sure dog is trained right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im not exactly sure what an epipen dog does, but if indeed it is a service dog then I believe that a working has rights and should be able to its job. Provided it has the correct training. Most dogs are not ready to be a service at one year old however as it takes so many hours of training and socializing to become one. And at one year old they are just coming out their puppyhood and learning how to beome an adult dog and learning their boundries in life.

Epipen Responds dogs should have same rights as any other service dog out in public they do a task for the person.

What do you think about this should they have same rights, if you think this then email your governer and let them know you would like this law pass and even for children and teenagers to take to public school.

Biut dog must be a year old and have all basic training and know a tasks.

Thank you. Dozer is indeed an ammbassador to the breed. I now work with people who cannot afford to pay the thousands of dollars it takes to aquire and train a Serivce Dog. Many of the dogs I rescue are perfect for this type of work. Not all but many pass the evaluations and move on to become great service dogs. And I am happy to say that quite a few of these dogs are the ones that the BSL want to exterminate from our world. Thank you for your support.

I will pass this to my friend, nice blog, some people are not trained properly with pit bulls, those are the ones causing bad name to them. If the law says they need some training then we won't have any problems. Sad they will treat a dog like that by chaining it to a tree. Glad you took care of it.
