This is the method I have used for over 20 years:
1 cup rice (serves 4)
2 cups Water
Pinch salt or to taste
Wash rice thorougly. Add water and salt. Let it come to boil. When it starts boiling, let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Take a grain and mesh it between your fingers. If it does so easily, then the rice is ready. Drain all the starch out (makes it healthier) put it back in pot, turn off heat, cover and let it cook on its own. Serve.
This is the best method I know of getting rid of the starch and enjoying the rice.
