The past cannot be changed; you are only in control of what you do right now.
Many people lose focus due to dwelling on the future; I think it's great to have an ambitious goal however you will struggle for motivation if you focus solely on the end result.
I'd recommend setting your own mini goals.
This may be another rep, another yard (or metre for us fans of SI units) or some other specified target.
Your goals are unique to you, and I would say, generally, if you feel you have improved your condition on yesterday, you're heading in the right direction.
