Applying eyeshadow is a fairly complex tasks when first learning how to work with it. First, as with any application of makeup, you need to make sure the area you're playing up is clean. Wash your face with your usual cleanser and pat dry, and apply a shadow base. MAC cosmetics has great shadow base products that help the eyeshadow stay neat and in place for hours. Next up is making sure you pick colors that go well with your skin tone and/or eye color, which is a fairly simple task. Now you need to blend. I usually use three colors and apply starting at the inner corner of the eye with the lightest of the three colors and then go gradually darker to the outer corner of the eye. (If you're wearing false eyelashes, insure you've applied them and let the glue dry first, and then apply the eyeshadow). Make sure you practice and play around with makeup. It's not going to be easy on your first try, and the result could be really bad. Don't try doing a smokey eye until you've tried the basic application of eyeshadow FIRST, or you'll end up looking like a raccoon. Most important of all, have fun with it!
