If you get a traffic ticket and the courtesy notice says there is an "amount due for a court appearance," does that mean you have to pay to go to court and fight the ticket?

Sad but true. But hey, somebody has got to pay for the traffic tickets. Even if you get dismissed, the court still has to spend time on it; and time is money.
