I’m a fan of chiropractic. First let me say my background is having worked my entire adult life in the traditional Western medicine world. I became disappointed at the “success” of this medical world and began exploring alternatives about 10 years ago. At my last 2 military facilities, we had chiropractic and I worked with these providers. I began seeing a chiropractor myself regularly about 6 years ago. It helps keep pain from an old shoulder injury at a minimum. I also sought this treatment for the impact on overall body organ function. I am an occupational therapist and have worked with a lot of great physical therapists. I definitely developed my own road map of which of my patients I referred to PT vs chiro, and many of my chiro consults were people who had been in accidents.
I have a friend who is a massage therapist. She had a car accident about 10 years ago and injured her neck. She was told that she needed surgery, but that she would still have a life of pain and disability. She sought out non-surgical treatment including chiro, massage, acupuncture etc. She is essentially pain free today, but none of this treatment was covered by insurance.
Me personally, I would go in debt if I had to for treatment other than surgery.
